hospital

Beep Beep Beep.
The first thing I heard was the beeping of the heart monitor, making me assume I was in the hospital.
I opened my eyes and squinted them, the bright light over me making my eyes hurt. My assumption was correct. I am inside the hospital. That's odd. I should be dead right now. How the fuck did I get into the hospital?
I saw a needle stuck in my right arm. Fuck! I am terrified of needles. That tiny little thing giving me liquid shit I don't know. No thanks.
I looked around and almost screamed at the sight of the person (Frank) sitting next to my bed staring at me intensely.
"Umm...." I trail off, unsure of what to say.
'Great job Gerard. Make yourself sound like an idiot, which you already are.' The voice said. I ignored it and continued with my questioning.
"What are you doing here?" I finally asked him.
'Yeah, that's right, make it worse.' It said again.
"Yeah, umm... I just wanted to make sure you're okay." He replied. I'm surprised that he didn't notice the way I said the question.
"Oh... Thanks." I say. I saw Frank smile, making me smile too. But he quickly turned, scared?
"Umm... I'll be right back." He said, sounding like a trapped animal. What did I do to him?
'He's scared of you because of your gayness radiating off of you. He doesn't want to be near you. That's why.' The voice answered for me. I shook my head to ignore the voice.
Before I could do anything, he ran off through the doors. I watched the doors numbly as questions flew inside my head, I had absolutely no idea what was going on.
A nurse came inside the room so I decided to pay attention to her.
"Hey." She greeted.
"Hello, ma'am." I reply.
"You are awake" She smiled.
Really? I thought my eyes were just opened for show.
"Yes, I am awake, but what happened to me?" I asked.
"You almost died" she stopped smiling, a frown replacing her features.
"You lost a lot of blood when you had cut yourself. If you two came only a few minutes later, you would've died" she explained grimly.
'That was the point, dumbass.' I thought.
"How did I get here?" I decided to ask.
"The short boy from earlier called an ambulance. He is so kind - he didn't want to leave your side until he made sure you were okay." She explained to me. She smiled a little at the thought.
All I could do is zone out. Frank wanted to know if I was ok? But, why?
'Probably just because he found you cutting again. Don't think there's anything else. He thinks you're a freak, a disturbed emo self-cutter or something like that.' The voice said menacingly. I shook my head off when I realized the nurse was still standing there.
"When can I go home?" I asked, wanting to leave this place already.
"Here, sign these and you are free to go" She placed the papers on my lap and left the room saying she'll be right back. I reached for them when I saw bandages covering my arms, wrist to elbow. This is going to take a while.
I was able to sign the given papers and hand them back to the nurse when she came back. After that, I was free to go home.
Though I don't really like the house I live in, my room is there. Calling me to lock myself up with some coffee, music and drawing supplies. I can't wait to get the voice out from my head and on a blank piece of paper.
