[JAKE]
Her lips were still as soft as they had been 7 years ago.
I found myself wrapping my arms around her waist and pulling her to me. Her hands were in my hair as she moved her lips against mine. I licked her bottom lip, tasting chocolate. I normally hated it, but right now I couldn't care less. I had imagined kissing Victoria again for years.
Victoria pulled away and shot me a look. "Stop it," She hissed, quiet enough so only I heard it.
I smirked at her. "We're engaged now. I can kiss you if I want."
Victoria glared at me. "We are not really engaged, Jacob." She said my name bitterly as she pulled away from my touch.
Knowing I had to talk to her without an audience witnessing our conversation, I quickly called out for our bill. Without glancing at the price, I placed my credit card inside and handed it back to the waiter. Victoria sat steaming in front of me.
As soon as I was handed my credit card, I grabbed Victoria's hand and pulled her to the door. When we were inside my car, Victoria pointedly ignored me, looking out the window.
"Victoria," I said softly. She didn't react.
"Tori," I whispered and placed my right hand on her thigh. She jerked away from my touch.
Sighing, I kept driving, occasionally glancing at the girl next to me.
When we pulled up to the house, Victoria was the first one out. She rushed to the front door but stopped when she realized that she didn't have keys to the house.
Smiling to myself, I walked up the pathway and opened the front door. Victoria brushed against me as she walked to the staircase. I quickly grabbed her arm to stop her.
"Victoria, please," I pleaded.
She gave me a cold look. "Let go of me."
"Let me explain. Please."
Victoria stood there for a moment before taking a seat on one of the living room couches. I sat next to her, staring at the ring on her ring finger. My father had bought it a week ago for me.
She glared at me. "Explain then."
I took her hand gently in mine but she shook me off. I couldn't help but feel hurt.
"Why are you mad at me exactly?" I murmured.
Victoria pressed her lips into a thin line. Lips I had kissed an hour ago.
"Maybe because you left me. Without a reason why." She sounded angry.
"My mother died," I said bluntly.
Victoria gasped. "Seraphina is dead?"
I nodded. At least I wasn't crying at every mention of her like I used to. "She died the day after."
Victoria frowned. "Day after what?"
I looked at her when I answered her. "The day after I kissed you."
Victoria's nostrils flared. "You left after you kissed me. What the actual hell?"
I looked away. "In the beginning, I was just scared that you would hate me. And then, she died. I was there with her. They saved me instead of my mother."
