Chapter 4

Ruby's p.o.v

The sun was in my eyes causing me to wake up. I didn't open my eyes because I didn't want to see the sun. I turned the other way, but soon regretted it as I was face to face with someone. I opened my eyes to see Wiess. She began to stir, causing me to panic. Shit. Shit. Shit. SHIT.

I quickly closed my eyes pretending I was asleep. "What the hell!?" suddenly I was on the ground. I groaned. I looked up to see Wiess looking down at me.

"I-im sorry Ruby! It's just- we just- did we-" I say up rubbing my head. "Wiess, it's okay. I'm fine" I said getting up. "You dolt! Why did you scare me like that!" I swear this girl is bipolar. I smiled at her sleepily. She shook her head and got off my bed.

"What's that smell?" I looked at Wiess and sniffed the air. My eyes widened as I realized what she was smelling. Pancakes!

I used my semblance to run into the kitchen and sit down, leaving a mad Wiess. There were some plates with pancakes on them. I grabbed one and saw a note on it.

Ruby, I'll be home later. I have to see a friend of mine downtown, so I won't be back until around noonish

I sighed and crumbled the note. "Morning" Pyrra said as she sat down. "Hey" I said sitting across from her. Everyone else came and sat down accept for Blake and Nora.

I saw a flash of pink from the corner of my eye. Okay, everyone accept Blake was at the table eating. "Wharsh yansh" Nora said with a mouth full of pancakes. Wiess scrowled at her and I giggled. "She went downtown to see an old friend of hers. She said she won't be back until around noon" everyone nodded.

I just hope she isn't where I think she is.

Yang's p.o.v

I came to a stop on bumblebee. I took off my helmet and looked around. This place still hasn't changed. I walked into the abandoned house. Every step I took brought back another memory of her. Why did she have to leave me?

I felt my semblance kick in and my vision go blurry. "Don't build yourself up is it to break down" and all too familiar voice said. I turned to Uncle Qurow. He smirked.

"How ya been firecracker?" he asked. I hugged him. "Terrible. It's hard having to take care of both myself and Ruby. It's hard knowing that we're- I'm alone" I said with tears in my eyes. I clung to him as he held me. "I know Yang, but you also know why he had to leave, so don't put that on yourself" I nodded as I understood what he was telling me.

He rubbed my back one last time before looking me in the eyes. "Go protect her Yang. She's just a girl who is being forced to grow up in this cruel world." I wipped away my tears and nodded. I walked out of the abandoned house and saw Qurow turn into a crow and fly off.

I put my helmet back on and drive off. As I drove his words replayed in my head.

I sped up and pulled up at my house. I checked my phone. 12:45. Great, I didn't get to sleep.

I took off my helmet and looked at the afternoon sky. I groaned. "Why didn't I just sleep when I had the chance" I said to myself. I walked into the house.

Ruby's p.o.v

Me and Nora ended up having pancake war. Wiess tried to stop it using ice, only to slip on syrup. Coco was using her bag to shoot pancakes at everyone. I was hit in the face.
