I began to notice how even the teachers of this school some how formed social cliques. You'd get the athletics coaches all sitting together, cheering each other on as they battled to see who could eat the most jelly.
You have the preppy English teachers who'd shun you if you didn't know who Tolstoy or Harding was.
And then you'd find the clique that consisted of Mr Downey, the nerd of the administrative staff. Well the clique only consisted of Mr Downey. The biology teachers seemed to always lach onto which ever teacher was most popular that week. Don't let them fool you, biology teachers are parasites! I'm sure you had one in your school, didn't you?
Anyway, Mr Downey never hid his passion for science like those parasites. He embraced it in a semi-obsessive way. The way he acted towards science kind of made him into an outcast and also he was really really weird, I mean really weird.
As soon as I sat down at my seat and as soon as he started speaking I understood nothing. He spoke so fast. I think it's because the ideas in his head all sort of overtook each other.
So I sat cluelessly as Mr Downey poured substances into beakers and added testubes of different substances. I just could not get myself to follow anything he was saying. He was too hyperactive, considering the amount of Red Bull he drank on a daily basis, I'm suprised he hasn't spontaneously combusted as yet.
