My brother had this new look in his eyes like I hadn't done enough to protect him from the streets. He was cursing, cutting up in school, and disrespecting everybody around him. I knew my little brother was going through some things, but I didn't want him drawing any attention to us because we didn't have parents that could go to parent-teacher conferences anymore. One day, I took him by the hand to have a talk with him and that day two promises were made.
There was only one person in the world I couldn't say "no" to and it was my little brother so when he asked me to find the men that killed our parents, I reluctantly promised him I'd deal with them on one condition: he had to behave in school.
It wasn't hard to make the promise, but it was hard keeping the promise. I didn't know where to start and I didn't know who to trust. About a week later, I got a "hot" gun off the streets and was ready to do whatever had to be done. That night I talked to the one girl who had been having my back for as long as I can remember. She was the only loyal person I knew and just like I thought, she was down to ride. With Tiffany, I didn't have to question too much because I knew she didn't have to be questioned. She didn't talk much and that was good because I needed somebody who wasn't gone open they mouth.
After me and Tiff went our separate ways, I start thinking "maybe I'm growing up too fast", but I had a gun, a promise to keep, and a lot of revenge caked inside my heart so none of that even mattered.
I threw my second thoughts out the window and called Tiffany a couple hours later. We got our stuff and headed to the St. Bernard on Claiborne Avenue where it was likely we would find out a little information...
We found out a lot more than we thought we would that night and when we left, I was positively sure I was growing up too fast because what me and Tiffany were about to get into might not be something we could get away from alive. Tiffany had this look on her face though that said she was ready for whatever and that's when I knew I wasn't backing down. I had everything I needed and I was ready to kill...
