---------------

I awoke to Laika, once again, whining at my bedroom door.

"Just 5 more minutes!", I yelled out.

Laika gave me a strange look and then continued to whine and whimper. So I climbed out of bed and walked over to the door. Her bright eyes lit up and her tail swung back and fourth. I opened the door and Laika ran out excitedly into the hall.

I followed her out to the main entrance and let her out to do her business. I made my way out to the kitchen. The room was silent and a sigh of relief escaped my mouth. I reached up into the cupboard and pulled out a mug.

Coffee has always been part of my daily routine, but today I decided to have tea. All the strange occurrences that have been happening were stressing me out and I had read online that tea supposedly helps.

I put some water in the kettle and left it to boil while I went to retrieve Laika from outdoors. When I returned the water was ready and I poured it into the cup. I dropped in a tea bag and watched as it steeped.

I grabbed the cup from the counter and wandered into the living room. I started to relax as I slowly sipped away at it. I stared into the cup. The water was still and calm. Just what I wished to be. Calm.

I sat there on the couch, bored and contemplating. "What if I don't want to stay here forever?", "What if I want to go back?", well maybe one day I will.

Just as I was about to zone out, I heard something. A knock at the door...

"Who could that be?", I wondered.

I walked up to the door and opened it. My jaw dropped open when I saw that no one was standing there. I just stood there and stared out into the woods. A chill shot through my body before I finally stepped back and closed the door.

"I could have sworn I heard a knock...", I said to myself.

Maybe it was just some stupid teenagers playing a prank on me? I repeated those same words over and over again in my head, trying to make myself believe what I hoped was the truth. However, it all came back to one realization...

I live in the middle of no where, and no one else lives in this area except me.

I turned around and something caught my eye. Another item was out of place. As I walked over to put it back, something big and fast ran straight in front of me. The wind gust created from the speed was powerful and I almost fell over.

It was at this point I realized, that the idea of teenagers pranking, me was no longer an option.

I ran into the kitchen and ripped open a drawer. I grabbed the biggest knife I could find and held it out in front of me. I knew it was a dumb idea but I headed in the direction I saw it go in.

I walked through the hallway as quiet as possible. I whipped my head around when I heard a door creak open. It was the door to my office... I tip toed closer and closer until I was at the door.

I peered into the room to see a figure just standing there. It appeared to be a man...

"What do you want from me?", I called out.

He looked up at me and it felt as if his dark eyes had pierced my soul.

"You".

He bolted at me, and all you could hear... were my blood curdling screams...
