yellow. when i used to think of the word yellow,

i used think of sunflowers and their beautiful petals painted in a perfect circle.

i used to think of lemons and how the bitterness behind the peel mimics the bitterness in myself.

i used to think of the sun and the way its rays give me warm hugs on the long summer days.

i used to think of hard candies and the color my tongue turns when i have one too many.

i used to think of my childhood rain-boots and the large puddles i used to splash through with them on.

i used to think of my rubber duck friend, the one that would float around the bubbles in the bath tub.

i used to think of the autumn leaves and how i would rake them into large piles just to jump into with my siblings.

but this was all in the past and that color no longer carries those memories because yellow has taken on a new perspective in my mind. when i think of yellow now all i think of is you.
