I am finally for the very first time in 2673 years stunned into silence. I have no answer for Skyker, not because I don't know it, but because it isn't my secret to tell. "Well? Or are you going to lie to me again?"

I sigh deeply before looking up into his beautiful pale blue eyes and giving the only response I can think of, "that little one is not my secret to share. Severin is the only one who knows the answer to that. I have my suspicions but nothing of any value, and not worth sharing." In response to my answer he slightly nods his head. After several minutes of sitting in silence, I begin to suspect that out conversation is over, and stand up. Just as I make it to the tree line to enter the woods, Skyler's soft voice stops me,"if I stop rejecting you, would you still have to wear the amulet?"

Pure joy runs through my body in waves at the thought of being accepted by my little one. I slowly walk back and stand directly in front of him, then I lean down slightly and with a firm grip on his chin with my forefinger and thumb I turn his face up to meet mine. I'm stunned by the wet sheen in his eyes, as well a the fresh trails running down his pale yet slightly flushed cheeks.

"My sweet little one, the only reason I wear it now is that it keeps your rejection from killing me. If you would accept me, I would never have to wear it again, but I would never force it upon you." Without waiting for him to speak again, for fear of hearing him reject me once more, I turn and disappear into the forest. I need some time to myself and I'm sure Skyler feels the same after all the truths he has heard.

I let my mind wander, as it does I find myself singing softly to my self.
