The Wolf Trials (Sequel to The Wolf Runner)

Chapter 6

Stiles' POV

"So what do you think we should do now?" Newt asks, directing the question at no one in particular.

"I say we should go look for our friends," Scott says while standing up swiftly, breaking the circle that we were sitting in.

"I don't know," Newt says, half to himself and half out loud, "knowing WICKED they might have put the rest in a completely different set of trials just to play with us."
After that we just sit there for a while in silence, trying to think of what to do. Even Scott slowly sits down silently on the rough ground. The words that Newt said starting to sink in.
What if they were put in a different trial? Would we ever see them again? What if WICKED had already killed them?
By the expressions on everyone's faces they were thinking the same thing as me.
Just to confirm that, Minho suddenly said, "What if WICKED just did off with them?"

"Look, I know they might not even be here but we need to at least try and find them," Scott said pleadingly, a desperate look in his eyes.

"I agree," Newt suddenly chimed in, "even if we do think that they aren't here it's still worth a shot. I mean who knows? They could be looking for us just now."

"Fine but..." Minho starts off before being interrupted by a crash, causing us all to jump in surprise.

"What was that?" I ask cautiously. Knowing what WICKED can do I wouldn't be surprised if it's some sort of monster thing just like the dead body's.

"Maybe it's your friends?" Newt asks hopefully, but some doubt pulling at his words.

"It's not them," Scott says while sniffing the air, "but I do recognise the scent, I just can't seem to figure out where from."
At this comment my heart stops. What if it was someone from WICKED?

"Are they human?" I ask while lowering my voice.

"No, but there not a werewolf either," Scott explains while getting up and slowly making his way towards where the crash came from.
Reluctantly me, Minho and Newt follow cautiously behind him.
When I look through the corner of my eye I see Newt picking up a lead pipe and Minho picking up a medium size pice of wood, which they must have found in the large pile of wood that was next to us.
Quickly I pick up the closest thing to me on the pile which just happened to be a wooden baseball bat.
Holding it tightly in my hands I creep closer to the corner where the noise came from.
As soon as Scott reaches the corner he looks back round at us and puts a finger on his lips, signalling for us to be quite. Before he turns back around I see his red eyes and sharp teeth.

He quickly jumps round the corner as me, Newt and Minho come running after him, holding our weapons up to defend ourselves.
Suddenly I bang into Scott's back as he comes to an abrupt stop, banging my nose in the process.

"What the hell?" I curse as I rub my sore nose. But he just blanks me as his attention is drawn to something else.

Curiously, I make my way round Scott to have a clearer view of what he's looking at.
It takes me a second to see what he's looking at, but then I see it. A young girl with long dirty blonde hair who looks to be about 5.2" is lying behind a small crate.

I look up to Scott and see some disbelief and recognition in his eyes.
"Do you know who she is?" I ask while looking closely at the girl to make sure she's breathing. Thankfully I can see her chest rising and falling at a normal pace.

"She's called Geena, I used to know her when we were younger. But I don't understand how she got here..." Scott trails off while keeping his eyes on Geena.
I look round to Newt and Minho and realise that they have their weapons rested beside their legs.

"Can she be trusted?" Minho asks while looking at her cautiously.
Suddenly I hear a grown as Geena starts to wake up.
