>THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN<
Sam sat in the driver's seat of the parked Impala watching the motel window in front of him with raised eyebrows. He turned his attention to the girl next to him, loving the laugh that escaped her lips. Alayna clicked on the small flashlight in her hand and refocused the attention on the book that was laying open in Sam's lap.
'Crossroad Demons'.
The title was across the top of the page in big, bold, capital letters. She had barely read the first two words when a faint music came from the room in front of them. "Do I dare look?" Alayna muttered to herself. When Sam didn't answer, she looked up at the window just as Dean walked over to it, facing the two from behind the glass, and flashing two thumbs up at his brother and Alayna.
Sam rolled his eyes with a soft chuckle, nodding awkwardly before returning his attention to the book. Alayna quirked an eyebrow when Karoline came into view, she bounced her eyebrows at her sister before pulling the thin, white curtains closed.
"They're such dorks." Alayna shook her head, flicking her gaze to Sam who was reading the same book for what seemed to be the millionth time. She didn't know why he still read it, he'd read it so many times he could probably recite it word for word.
"Hey," She grabbed his chin, turning his attention to her. "We're gonna save him. Stop worrying so much." Sam's lips twitched into a small smile, before lowering his lips to hers softly. At that moment, Alayna's cell phone rang loudly, causing her to pull away. She giggled at the irritated sigh Sam let out, but still fished out the device from her pocket. "What's up?" She greeted, knowing who it was without having to look at the caller I.D.
"Alayna," Tom's voice came through clearly, accompanied by the familiar hum of an engine in the background.
"Hold on," She pulled the phone away and put it on speaker so Sam could hear. "I'm with Sam."
"How you two doing?" He didn't have anything. Alayna knew the words to be true as soon as Tom asked the question. It was just another daily check up. Since they killed yellow-eyes, Bobby and Tom called them nearly everyday.
"Oh, same old, same old," Sam replied evenly, but he could tell by Tom's scoff that he knew exactly what him and Alayna were doing.
"You and the girls buried in that book again?" Alayna glanced up at the curtained window in front of her.
"Actually, Kari's a little indisposed at the moment." Alayna admitted, grinning at the disgusted noise Tom made.
"I didn't need to know that," He bit out, both Sam and Alayna laughing at his revulsion. Then Tom sighed, getting serious again. "Guys, you want to break Dean free of that deal, no book is gonna help. There's not exactly a 'How-To' manual for Hell." As much as Sam wished he could deny it, he knew what Tom was saying was the truth.
