It was shortly after rays of sunlight seeped their way through his brown window blinds that his peaceful slumber was interrupted by a rude knock on the front door.
"Ago!, Ago!, 3y3 (pronounced eh yeh) Angela" a familiar voice called from the front door.
Kolapo reluctantly threw off the thick duvet shielding him from the cold air oozing out of the air conditioning vents. After stretching out the rumpled clothes which he had slept in the previous night, he headed out of his room, climbed down the staircase and walked across the sitting room toward the front door.
The voice called out again just before he got to the door, "George baby!! O massa, open the door wai".
Just then, Kolapo froze because this time, the voice sounded even more familiar but now, the familiarity was discomforting. He recognized the voice as Angie's,
Angela was a hooker he had met few weeks back at 'The Drive' night club.
He remembered that he had introduced himself falsely as George to her after she 'confessed' that she had fallen for him just 3 hours after they met.
He rushed back upstairs to his room to ensure his girlfriend was still tucked in bed. He closed his room door as quietly as he could and dashed back downstairs to the front porch where Angie stood in a big red sweatshirt. The very same big red sweatshirt Kolapo misplaced the night he met Angie.
"What are you doing here?" he asked Angie who seemed quite pleased to see him.
"Looking for you" she said with a huge goofy grin. "You just went missing after that amazing night at Golden Tulip. I miss you wai. I also came to return your sweater".
Kolapo took a deep sigh, slung his arm around her shoulder and walked her away from the porch to the main gate of his compound.
"It was a one time thing. I'm not really attracted to you. Please don't come here again and uhh....you can keep the sweatshirt" he explained as he led her quickly out of the gate.
"But George, I lo......" Her words were cut off by the bang of the pedestrian gate and the sound of the bolt being locked.
{How on earth did she find me?}
he thought to himself as he walked back towards the building.
As he walked in to the door, he felt his heart drop into his testicles as he saw Holly, his girlfriend standing with her hands crossed across her chest in the middle of the sitting room.
"What the hell Kola?"
He took her hand in his trying to hide the uneasiness that was building up inside.
"Why the f*** would you eat all my potato chips?"
he could feel his chest unwind as the words escaped her lips.
"They were going stale baby and I had the munchies" he replied planting a soft kiss on her forehead and pulling her closer to him.
She laid her head against his chest and breathed out a heavy sigh.
"So, who was your friend?" she asked in a soft, relaxed tone.
Kolapo hesitated a little before he replied, "She was just a visitor from the faculty".
He lifted her up on his back and carried her off to the kitchen to make their breakfast.
