The 5-hour drive to Kotoka international airport was fairly quiet as everyone in the car reminisced on what had happened a few nights ago at Kola's house.
On getting to the airport, they made their way to the business lounge and sat on a set of sofas arranged around a coffee table. While they waited for their jet to be prepared for boarding, they joked about one another and their reactions when the robbers attacked.
"You should have seen how Emeka nearly drowned me when they shot the door. Just too bitchy" Timi mocked while sipping from a glass of Belaire.
"At least I wasn't the one who refused to come out of the safe room after they had gone" Emeka barked in defense.
"I'm a girl, Emeka. I'm meant to be scared"
While they were all attacking themselves and joking about who was most scared, they barely noticed a lady who had walked up to them.
"Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen"
They all kept quiet and turned to face her. She was a tall slender lady probably in her early twenties. She was dressed in a white top with a short coffee brown skirt and beret to match. Her flat, soft-sole shoes hardly made any noise on the smooth airport terminal floor.
She smiled at them and continued,
"My name is Ms. Abena Adjei and I'd be your chief hostess for today. Your flight would be ready to board in a few minutes. May I escort you to your vehicle?"
They all stood up from the lounge sofas, grabbed their luggage and followed Ms. Adjei.
"They never give you the same crew twice. Last time, it was the Egyptian babe who couldn't complete a sentence without switching tenses." Emeka complained as they walked toward the two Bentleys waiting to take them to the tarmac where their flight awaited.
As they boarded, Ms. Adjei introduced the other members of the crew who ushered the wolfpack into the cabin of the medium-sized Falcon Jet.
"Meet Raj, Jojo and Sarah. In case you need anything at all, we're here for you. Today, captain Yemi would be flying us to Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos....."
She went on to explain all the safety measures associated with the jet plane and before long, they were on their way.
The flight to Lagos was short and before long the plane touched down on Nigerian soil.
As the pilot made his way to the Execujet hangar where the chauffeurs parked waiting their passengers' arrival, he picked up the in flight intercom mic.
"Good day ladies and gentlemen. This is captain Yemi. I'm pleased to inform you that we have landed in Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. I hope you enjoyed your flight. Did you guys leave any of the champagne as pilot PR?
Thanks for flying with Execujet
Once again, this is captain Yemi.
Do have a wonderful evening."As they stepped out of the aircraft door and descended the gangway truck onto the grounds of the Execujet Hangar, the crew talked about their arrangements for the upcoming award show.
"I wonder how it would be though" Dave told nobody in particular.
"wonder how what would be?" Holly asked
Dave looked at her with the corner of his eyes and squinted his eyes.
"You know, walking up to that stage. Kola taking that award. The whole of Africa would be watching." Dave explained visualizing everything in detail.
"We've not yet won. Anything can happen though"
Kola lowered his phone and looked around at everyone.
