GBESE!!!
(Nigerian term for a situation with little hope of a good ending)

"Nice to meet you" Holly said in a cheerful manner. "How may I help you?".

Angie, slowly tracing a piercing, head-to-toe stare at the girl who stood before her, replied, "I'm here to see my BOYFRIEND, George".

Holly looked at her totally confused.

"Who? Dave?". "I didn't know he had a girl or that his name was George either".

At that moment, Emeka, completely oblivious of what was going on at the porch or who was at the door, stepped out of the parlour entrance onto the porch. He intended to go buy some rolling paper across the street but froze in shock as he saw who was standing on the porch. Quickly darting back into the parlour, he yelled,

"Kola! Wahala dey".

A much startled Kola almost fell off his couch asked in fear and ignorance of his possible near future fate,

"Food done burn?".

Emeka grabbed him by the arm and led him to the window.

"Look who's outside".

Kolapo's face turned white (not literally).

"Well, I guess this is it", he muttered as he boldly stepped outside.

Holly, who had gotten a slight whiff of what was going on, softly asked Kolapo, "Do you know this girl?".

Kolapo hesitated a little and then replied quite sincerely,

"She's an old hoe".

Turning to Angie with a straight face, he continued,

"who doesn't understand that there's nothing between us and won't stay away".

Holly, who could feel fury building up on her insides but was quite impressed with Kola's admission/denial, patted Angie on the shoulder and said,

"This right here....",

poking her index finger on Kola's broad, firm chest,

"....is my property and this...",

pointing to the ground referring to the half-acre compound in which Kolapo's personal estate stood,

".....is MY territory. So please, get off and stay off or you'd have to deal with me".

She turned to Kolapo, kissed him deeply then whispered to him,

"Your food is ready so get rid of your dirty laundry quick and come back inside before it gets cold".

With those words she planted another kiss and walked back into the house.

Angie just stood there in shock as Kolapo shrugged and said,

"I told you not to come but you wouldn't listen".

Emeka who was standing by the door though the whole ordeal thawed out of his frozen state and said, "I guess this is goodbye then".

As few tears began to slowly roll down her cheeks, without a word, Angela pulled the Baggy sweatshirt over her head, dropped it on the porch and walked out of the compound.

Emeka escorted her out while trying to cheer her up a bit and also convince her to try and move on. Once they were outside, he bade her farewell and headed for the smoke shop across the street.
