Killian moved in that weekend and into Emma's penthouse. He didn't have many things as it was, and all of his furniture was in storage. Every one of Emma and Killian's friends helped get him settled. After moving in, Killian felt a little awkward. Emma noticed his hesitance around her place, as if he was afraid of getting it dirty or messing things up. She noticed that he was trying to make himself unnoticed, as if it had been the first time he ever visited. She sat down beside him on the couch and tucked her legs underneath herself and ran her hands up his chest.
"Get comfortable, okay? You live here now. Eat whatever you want. Drink whatever you want. Hell, you can walk around naked if you want. You know I would never say no to that." She said with a little giggle.
He laughed beside her. "I've just never lived in a place as grand as your home. It's beautiful."
"It is. But, I never lived in fancy places like this either, so I know how you feel. It won't take long to get you used to all this."
"I hope not."
She smirked and moved over to straddle his hips. "How about you break into your new home."
He cocked his eyebrow and tilted his head. "Will you help me?"
Emma immediately kissed his lips, and worked her way down his jaw and neck. She sucked a mark into his neck and his breathing hitched. His hand found their way to her hips and he began to stand up, ready to take them to her bedroom, but she pushed him back down. "No. Here." Killian groaned and went back to kissing her.
On Monday, Emma slipped out of the penthouse before Killian woke up. She wanted to give Killian a promotion. The whole reason why he had got kicked out of his apartment in the first place was because he hadn't been making enough money. Well, she decided to offer him the job as her personal assistant. That way, they would see each other more, and he would get paid more money. But, Emma wasn't entirely sure he would take the offer. Working for your girlfriend did have its perks, but it did have its downsides too. She knew Killian had his pride. What if he didn't want to take the offer because he was still making less money than her?
'We'll cross that bridge when we come to it.' She told herself.
Upon walking into her office, she turned on the desk light and began to fill out paperwork for the new position. She went through Killian's files and sorted through his papers, getting ready to transfer them. Maybe having him so close to her all the time would help her stop missing him so much during the day. But, she also knew that she couldn't let him distract her because of all of her work. It would be a piece of cake, right?
At 8:00, Emma went into the locker room, only to find it completely empty. She went over to Killian's locker and his jumpsuit was still in there hanging up. Why hadn't he come in yet?
"You know, it's not a good idea to snoop in other people's things." She heard a familiar accented voice say behind her. Emma turned around to see Killian with his arms crossed over his chest.
"You didn't come and see me. I was worried."
"And I didn't have a beautiful blonde next to me when I woke up, leaving me alone to shower."
Emma blushed and put his jumpsuit back into his locker. "I actually need to talk to you about something, and in here is not the place."
"Why not?" As soon as he said that, the door squeaked, indicating that someone was entering the room. "Oh. Yeah, alright. Just let me get changed really fast."
"No, that won't be necessary. Just, come to my office."
She left the locker room, nodding to David and Robin as she passed by them. "What was that all about?" Robin asked.
"No idea." Killian said, closing his locker.
"Do you think you are getting fired?"
"Don't know. But if I am, it's all Dave's fault."
"My fault? How?" David asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
"You promised me that you wouldn't tell her that I was evicted."
"Killian, she was going to find out anyway."
"I know, but I would have liked her to find out later than sooner. I have to go." He stepped out of the locker room and went to Emma's office. Even though she was expecting him, he still knocked and waited for her permission to come in. When he heard a faint "come in," he opened it and quickly shut it again. "What did you need me for, love?" Despite his cool, calm, and collected attitude, he was actually very nervous about what she had to say, because, what if it wasn't good news? Was this about his job position, or something from their personal lives?
"Sit down." Her voice was full of authority, just daring him to defy her. But he did as he was told. "I want to promote you."
"Promote me?"
"Yeah. Instead of cleaning and fixing things around here, you get to hang out with me all day. But, you would be my personal assistant. There is a raise."
Killian leaned back in the chair. "Why?"
She laughed. "Do I really have to answer that?"
"Yes. I want to know why you are doing this. Is it because I'm your boyfriend?"
"No. It's because you are a good employee. And I want to spend more time with you."
"So, you're not getting sick of me yet?"
Emma laughed again and stood up. She leaned down and wrapped her arms around his neck from behind and kissed his temple. "Never."
