Four Months Later...

Killian and Emma were as happy as could possibly be. Killian had celebrated every holiday over at Emma's penthouse, and she loved the company. He was hardly ever at his apartment. Only there to shower and do his laundry. Other than that, he was spending time at Emma's place. She loved having Killian around. He was her best friend and boyfriend, and she seriously wanted to ask him to move in with her, but she was nervous. She often asked herself if he felt the same way towards her. If he actually wanted to do that. If he saw the relationship the same way she did. She desperately wanted to know if they were going to have a future together. But, every time she found herself trying to ask him, there was always some emergency, a phone would ring, or she would just get too scared and end up asking him something else.

But, today was Valentine's Day. The first Valentine's Day that she had celebrated with a guy in years. But this time, she was prepared to ask Killian the questions that had been burning in her mind for months. But, that would happen only if she didn't drown in paper work first.

Since it was Valentine's Day, the most romantic time of the year, newly weds were checking into the hotel, and the rooms were quickly becoming full. More guests meant more paperwork for everything. It was honestly a pain. The staff would run around the hotel wildly, trying to make sure that every guest's needs were met. Holidays usually brought in more guests, which brought in more money, but it was terrible. She was constantly stressed out and on edge. Any thing, no matter how small, it would just make Emma go into a panic mode. Killian tried to help relax her as much as possible, but nothing seemed to help. And it had been like this for two weeks.

She trudged to the elevator after another hard day. Everything hurt, and all she wanted to do was sleep, but because today was Valentine's Day, she had a whole romantic evening planned for Killian. It would still be a while until he got back, but it was all the time she needed.

When she slipped her key card through the electronic lock. The only lights that came into the penthouse was the street lights below. She put her card and purse on the stand next to the door, and flipped the light on. She immediately gasped when she saw the transformation of her living room and kitchen. Heart lights were strung up and plugged in. Red and pink streamers decorated the rooms, and Killian leaned against the couch, shirtless, and with two wine glasses in his hands. She smiled and he walked over to her and handed her one of the glasses.

"I know you've been stressed out for the past few weeks, so I thought it would be a good idea for you to relax." He said and pecked her lips.

"You ruined tonight." She draped her arms around his neck and brushed her nose with his. "I planned out a whole romantic evening from dinner to dancing, and then we could go into the bedroom and do whatever you wanted."

"Nah uh. You've been working yourself to death, and I thought it would be a good idea for me to plan the evening."

"You're gonna have to let me plan a romantic evening someday soon."

"I know, but let me just treat you well tonight. Please?"

She sighed dramatically. "I guess I could for tonight."

"Thank you, love." He kissed her nose, then her cheeks, then moved to her lips. "For the first part of tonight," he led her to the dinning room table where two covered dishes sat. "I thought we could do dinner." He uncovered the plate and pulled the chair out for her so she could sit down. Then, Killian went to the opposite side of the table and sat down as well.

They uncovered the plates and chicken Alfredo was on them. Emma's mouth began to water as the aroma of the food wafted to her nose. She didn't waste another second and dug into the food. Due to her busy schedule, she had skipped lunch that day, and just worked through it in order to get more work done. But, she was glad she had. The food both smelled and tasted delicious.

"What do you think?" Killian asked eagerly.

"Perfect. It's so good!" She moaned as she took another bite.

"Wait until you have dessert."

"You made dessert too?"

"Aye. But, you can't know what it is until you eat the main course."

Emma laughed and finished eating. They told each other about their day which ended up with both of them laughing. After they finished, Killian took the plates to the kitchen and came back with another covered tray. He placed it in front of her and covered her eyes with his hands.

"What are you doing?" She asked with a giggle.

"Just, don't look." When Emma could see again, there was a red heart shaped cake in front of her. On top of the cake were the words, "Happy Valentine's Day!". Emma gasped and shot up from the chair to tackle Killian with a hug.

"You are so amazing! I-" She cut herself off, unable to say what she desperately wanted to. She knew she loved Killian, she had known for a while, but she wasn't sure if he felt the same way. "I love it. Thank you so much!"

"You're welcome, love."

Killian gave each of them a slice of cake, and they both dug in right away. Just as promised, Emma found the cake to be just as delicious. After they were done eating, Emma dragged Killian to the bedroom where they made good on her promise to do whatever he wanted.

Just as she was drifting off to sleep on Killian's chest, his phone started ringing. She pretended to be asleep as he answered it. She knew that listening to his conversation wasn't a good thing to do, but she was curious about how he talked about her to his friends. Ever since Emma became successful, she always worried if people were just friends with her or dating her just to get money. She knew Killian wasn't like that, but, she still wanted to know.

"Hey, Robin." Killian said and went back to running his fingertips up and down her arm. "Yeah, I'm at Emma's. We just had dinner.... Yeah, I know I have. I think I'm falling in love with her. But, what if she doesn't feel the same way?" She could hear Robin talk, but it was just a mumbled, jumbled mess. "I hope so. Thanks. I'll talk to you later." A second later, he hung up the phone and put it on the nightstand beside him. He wrapped his arms around Emma and they both drifted off to sleep, with similar thoughts in their heads.
