Chapter 14

Maya's POV

I finally got ready and went down stairs to see everyone in the living room like they were in middle of an agent meeting. 'There she is' Zay claimed making everyone turn their heads at me. I slowly went to Riley's side feeling awkward with everyone's attention.

'Ok let's go people' Riley said grabbing my hand and running out the door making me trip and the heels I was wearing didn't help at all. Great, I waited for my body to hit the ground but I felt two hands on the each side of my waist.

'Wow didn't know you were this clumsy' I heard a southern accent say, I looked up to see Lucas looking down at me with a smirk on his face. I softly slapped his face, 'whip that stupid smirk off your face' I said glaring at him. 'Jeez a little 'thank you' would've been nice' he said, 'okay then thank you, there you go with your thank you mr.polite' I said rolling my eyes and taking his hands away from my waist, he chuckled. I went to Riley who was leaning against the car, a goofy grin on her face when she sees me.

'Ok riles who's driving? I asked my best friend, 'Lucas is' she said pointing at the boy who was approaching us. 'Keys please' Lucas said reaching out his hand to Riley. 'There you go' Riley said dropping my parents car keys in his hand before climbing to the back seat.

'You think you can drive without killing us?' I said smirking at him, 'says the one who screamed every turn she took on her first driving test and failed' he said raising an eyebrow at me, my smirk faded and I narrowed my eyes at him.

Yes that's true, I failed my driving test I took the day I turned 16. How does Lucas knows about that? Well Him and Riley convinced the instructor to let them come with and that's how they witnessed my horrible attempt to drive.

'Well atleast I didn't fail at riding a sheep' I said crossing my arms and smiling at him. He opened his mouth but closed it again, 'lost your voice huckleberry?' I asked him chuckling. He raised his hand and pointed his index finger at me, 'you are evil' he said. I laughed as I watch him climb to the drivers seat. Oh huckleberry.

I opened the door of back seats to see Farkle, Zay and smackle already inside. 'When did you three get here?' I asked them curiously, 'while you were too busy Banting with Lucas' Zay who was sitting between Farkle and smackle said. 'Farkle that's my seat' I pointed out, 'but Riley wanted me to sit hear' he said looking at Riley who was looking down at her lap. 'Looks like your in the passenger seat hun' Zay said smirking, I glared at him. He did this on purpose.

I signed and got in the passenger seat, Lucas turned to me with a cheeky grin on his face. 'What?' I asked him, 'nothing' he said still grinning. He finally started the car, I reached to the radio and turned it on. 'True love' by
pink was playing. I smiled and leaned back on my seat.

Suddenly I felt warm finger tips brushing against my cold ones. I looked at my hands to see, Lucas' hand against mine. I decided to ignore it and stared at the window.

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, I took it out to see a text from Riley. I narrowed my eyes. Why the hell is she texting when I'm right in front of her? I turned my head at her. She nodded eyeing my phone.
I opened the text:

Riles: he's trying to hold your hand!!! LET HIM!

I looked back at mine and Lucas' hands, I bite my lip and turned my head back at Riley. She nodded again.

I inhaled deeply before letting my hand move even more closer to his. I felt him lift his hand and his much bigger hand intertwine with my much smaller one, making fire between us. I looked up at him, to see his staring ahead of the road with a smile on his face. I could feel myself redden.

I saw my phone light up, it was an attachment from Riley.

She sent a picture of me and Lucas holding hands. I felt myself blush as I leaned my head against the window.

For some reason, even though he's only holding my hand. For the first time in my life, I felt safe.
