Chapter 6

Lucky's POV


The hallway was silent. It was the early evening, so everyone was probably out somewhere. This was a school filled with party people, so I'm not too surprised.

I fished my key from my pocket and easily opened my room door. To my surprise, Riley was sitting in the room, laying in her bed.

I slowly approached her. "Hey." I said. She turned to face me. "You left your notebook in class today."

Her golden eyes widened a bit. She quickly grabbed the book out from my hands. "Thanks." She mumbled. "Did you go through it?" She suddenly asked.

I hesitated. What do I say to her? "Uh, no, I didn't." I lied straight through my teeth.

She looked at me some more. But then she put the notebook on the desk.

"I'm gonna go back out." I told her.

"Whatever." She grumbled then laid back down.

"Do you... I don't know, do you want to take a walk with me?" I suddenly asked.

Riley looked up at me in surprise. "Why?"

"Well, you're in here by yourself, I just figured you'd want some company."

She hesitated, but finally said, "I like being alone."

I understood, and then left her. I went to find my brother. He was sitting on the grass with a few of his friends. When I approached them, one of the guys whistled at me.

I rolled my eyes. "Ty, can I talk to you for a bit?"

"Yeah sure, I was actually looking for you earlier.. I'll be right back guys." My brother walked towards me.

Before we went off, one of his friends called out to us. "Yo, Lucks! I hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave."

They all laughed, then another guy spoke up. "Hit me up sometime baby." He formed a phone with his hands near his face.

"You guys know I'm gay, right?"

"Yeah, but $10 I can easily change your mind."

I scoffed, then dragged my brother away from them. "You friends are disgusting."

"I know, but don't worry. I'll put them in their place later. Now, what's up?"

"I found my mate the other day."

My brother's eyes lit up. "Really? Before me? Aw, who is she? Is it Crystal? I knew you two were made for each other. I have to tell Mom and Dad!"

"Tyler, it's not Crystal."

He froze an stared at me. "Wh-What?"

"Crystal," I sighed, "isn't my mate... Riley is."

Tyler laughed. "Riley? You got to be kidding me. Riley doesn't do relationships first of all. She barely has any friends, because she pushes people away. Not to mention that 95% of the school is afraid of her."

"Well, it's not impossible. I felt the sparks and everything. I never felt that when I'm with Crystal."

"Lucky, you can't get yourself I involved with Riley."

"Why not?" I asked. "Is there something you know about her that I don't?"

My brother sighed, and scratched his head. "Riley is from a powerful pack. Our pack has constantly been competing with them for territory, power, everything." He paused. "Her father wants us dead you know."

"Why?"

"Because we're a threat to him. Notice how everyone in Broken Shadow adore us? That's because they respect us. We're part of a well known pack, and since we're next in line, Riley's dad figures that if we're dead, the pack will fall apart, and he'll take over once our current alpha dies."

"How do you know all of this. Why didn't you tell me any of this before?"

"I came to this school before you remember? So did Riley and her brother, Calvin. They've been after me ever since I've been here. And, I thought Savannah would've told you?"

"She didn't, but what does she have to do with any of this?" My head was starting to hurt.

"Savannah used to be Riley's partner in crime, and was part of their pack. She went rogue when she got tired of killing innocent people in order to prove her strength."

I looked at my brother with a blank stare.

"Man, you seriously know nothing about these guys... Riley and Calvin's father have his pack members prove their loyalty and strength by killing random people that have no relation towards them, human or wolf. That's why Riley went rogue. Her father wants her to toughen up."

I nodded. "I got it. I got it, but you should probably stop right there before my head explodes."

"Sorry." He shrugged. "Anyway, I just want you to be careful around Riley. I'm telling you, she may be your mate, but Crystal is defiantly the way to go."

"I'll be alright, you don't have to worry about me."

"You're my little sister, it's my job." He reached out and messed up my hair. I swatted his hand away, and fix my black hair back to how it was. "Anyway, I'm gonna head back to my group. I think their still giving you lustful looks, so I got to teach them a lesson."

I giggled. "I'll see you later." I shook my head, and walked away.

I went back inside to my dorm. I had a lot to think about. My brother had told me more than I needed to know. I want to make sure it's all true though. Trust me, I wouldn't think Tyler would lie to me, but I like hearing from multiple sources.

I made my way into my room. Riley was sound asleep, snuggled into her blanket. Savannah was sitting in her bed, watching TV with just a tank top and shorts on. Her blonde hair was in a ponytail.

"Hey, Savannah?" I called out in a whisper. I didn't want to wake up Riley.

Savannah looked up at me. "Hey girl, whats up?"

"I just wanna talk to you for a minute. Is that okay?"

"Yup. Come here and we can chat." She patted a spot on the bed. I climbed on and sat next to her.

I asked Savannah about everything I wanted to know. We talked for a good two hours. She confirmed everything my brother had said. She even told me a little bit about Riley.

According to Savannah, Riley has never been with a girl before, which is surprising, because she's drop dead gorgeous. She's also more sensitive than how she makes herself seem. She's been through so much in her life, so no wonder she acts like how she does now.

After hearing everything though, I'm not sure if I want to get involved with her. Even if we do go out, she could eventually turn her back on me. For now, I'll stick to my brother's advice and stay with Crystal. It's probably the best for now.

Short, I know, but I've been busy with other stuff.. Like applying to colleges.
I'll update again probably next week or so, I'm not sure for which story though.
