Riley's POV

It was a boring day. I had nothing to do, and Lucky had classes all day, so I couldn't hang out with her. I would have her to myself for the night though, so I guess I could wait until then.

For now, I was laying in the shade, under a tree. My eyes were closed, and I was about half asleep.

Disturbing me from my rest, I felt a presence close by. I recognized the scent easily. It was my father.

With my eyes still closed, I growled, wondering why he even decided to present himself after that little stunt he tried to pull yesterday.

"What do you want, Dad?"

My dad sat next to me. I opened my eyes and saw that he was wearing shades , so I couldn't really read his face at the moment.

"Did Lucky receive her gift?"

I sat up, glaring at him. "She knew of it, but I didn't allow her to put on the necklace."

My dad grinned, and chuckled. "Such a shame. It would've looked lovely on her."

"Cut the crap, Dad. I know the necklace had silver in it."

My father took off his sunglasses and gave me the same expression that I was giving him. "Obviously it did, Riley, but you took it anyway without examining it. You're intelligence is slipping, and it's because you've allowed this girl into your life."

"Lucky is my mate, of course I'm going to be with her." I argued. "Look, if you still plan on getting your hands on her, and Tyler, then I don't want to be a part of it."

"You're weak, Riley." My dad stood up and looked down at me with a disgusted look. "The point of me kicking you out from the pack was that so you can get stronger. Instead, you've become do flimsy, just like how your mother was."

"Mom was one of the strongest of the pack, like you!" I said, standing up as well.

My dad shook his head. "She was before she had you and Calvin. After you two were born, that's when everything went downhill."

"What are you talking about?"

"That's not important now. The point is that I'm giving you a choice. You either continue following my orders, which may lea up to you returning to the pack and soon becoming alpha, or you betray us, and run along with your so called mate."

I actually thought about my options. My dad patiently waited for me to say something, but facing him, at that moment, I wasn't exactly sure what to say at that point.

I know, I've been saying how I've wanted nothing to do with my dad, but my possibilities just now dawned on me.

I could go back to him, doing whatever he said, but that would result in me losing Lucky, and Calvin would lose his possible love interest as well. But, I would live up to my status, and eventually become alpha. It's in my blood after all, plus I wouldn't have to struggle with being a rogue anymore. I would actually be respected.

Then there was my other option... Stick to my word, and ditch my pack, and stay protecting my mate. I mean, I did just earn her mother's trust. Lucky does mean a lot to me. She was willing to break up with her girlfriend at the time to be with me. She gave me a chance, something no one else will probably do for me in the future. Was I willing to throw that all away?

"I'm waiting, Riley." My dad tapped his foot. "If you don't reply now, I'm going to assume that you want to continue to see that girl. I would lose one of my strongest pack members, but I guess I could always find a replacement."
