"Ethan, you didn't have to come get me.." I say, as I sat still in the passenger seat of his car, looking out the window, as the rain poured down. It was dark. It was late. What was I thinking. Well, I can tell you that I wasn't.
I turned my head around to look at him. I couldn't tell what he was thinking or how he felt about my actions. Gosh, why did Lexi have to call him.
He ignored me, keeping his eyes on the road, as he clenched his jaw. He was breathing heavily. Was he mad? Disappointed? I don't know.
We were a long way from home, that's for sure.
A few hours earlier.
"Carter! Loosen up! Forget about Peter! He was an ass; and I never liked him anyway." Lexi spoke to me. She stumbled over to me, plopping on the spot next to me.
"I know, I'm just upset okay? I never thought he'd be the one to break things off without reason." I sighed. Peter just ended our 7 month relationship. He didn't even give me an explanation to why.
"Forget about boys for the night." She said handing me a drink. "Drink up." She smiled. Okay, let me tell you, I suck at drinking. I get drunk almost immediately, as for Lexi, she gets drunk, yes but she gets sober enough to do shit she remembers the next day.
I take the drink and take a sip, instantly craving more. I drunk a lot. A lot. To get my thoughts from Peter out. I don't remember much. But Lexi drove us out of town to this popular party, and I ended up getting my drunk ass dancing on other boys.
So, she called Ethan.
now.
"Ethan, I'm sorry." I mumble, as he pulls up onto my driveway. "Just don't do stupid shit again okay?." He unlocks the car, and waits for me to get out, but I don't yet.
I sit silently there for a while. But he doesn't seem to mind.
"Thank you." My voice raspy.
"Anytime, Carter. I always got your back." He smiles. I open the door, and about to close it when Ethan speaks up again. "Hey, call me in the morning." I chuckle, and nod. He waves bye, just as I'm at my front door, and he pulls out of the driveway.
It was 3am. I was so tried. I'm so relieved Ethan came to get me. Lexi didn't come because she's friends with the host of the party, and she slept there because she was too tired to come all the way back here.
I plop down onto the bed, not bothering on changing. Then, I slept. Just like that.
In the morning. Or in her case, the afternoon.
My neck was killing me. What kind of position did I sleep in to cause my neck to hurt so much. I got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom, which was also in my room. I glanced at the mirror. Jeez, I look like a panda. My makeup was everywhere, and my hair was crazy.
I took a quick shower, and picked out an outfit for today. I ran down the stairs to get some breakfast. "Morning mom." I say as I pass a picture of her hanging on the way. She's... no longer in my life. She died when I was young. It was hard, but I got over it. Somehow. Loss is scary.
My dad was probably at work, since he works on weekends too. He's very busy. How do you think we could afford this nice house.
