It had been a week since the party. Ethan and Lexi don't remember anything. Carter and Grayson remember every moment of it. She had told Grayson what she saw, because he kept bugging her about what had made her upset.

And since then, Grayson hadn't showed up to school. Carter acted perfectly okay, for everyone's sake.

She's seated in a classroom with Ethan, and Lacey. Other students are present, obviously.

"Where has Grayson been lately?" Asks Carter. She was curious to know, because if Grayson were to had been depressed, she would've blamed herself for it.

"He says he's sick, but I know that's not the reason. He acts as if he hates me, and I just don't understand why," Ethan shrugs.

If only you knew, Carter thought.

Telling them would just cause more drama, and Carter honestly didn't need that.

"Can I come over after school? I need to speak with him," Carter asks hesitantly. Ethan realizes how much time Carter is spending with Grayson, and it was making him feel a pang of jealousy.

"Uh, sure I guess," Ethan says, sinking into his seat more. Carter notices his change in mood, and says, "Don't worry. I still like you more," in reassurance.

A chuckle escapes his lips, as well as hers.

The bell rings, indicating that the class was starting. The teacher comes through the doors, skimming the classroom to see if everyone was seated in their seats, and surprisingly everyone was.

"Okay class," he begins, clasping his hands together, "we're a little into the year already, but I don't see why we can't prepare on writing large essays now? I'm handing out these essay formats, and you're going to write little in them, and then we'll write in bigger portions. We're writing five paragraph essays on a special person. You don't have to share it, just know that I will be reading it. I've decided to keep it easy, seeing as you won't have it easy going on into the year," he hands the paper formats out to each student.

Carter glances over at Ethan, to see he's already looking at her. She smirks, before writing the person her essays going to be about.

She starts by writing:

Ethan Dolan. A popular, good looking, genuine, empathetic, friend. He's been with me since forever. The fact that he actually enjoys my company, unlike many people do not, makes me happy around him. I don't have many family. And so he and his family are there to be it. He knows almost every single secret I've kept. Knows all the drama throughout my life. Knows when I've have my first kiss, first time, first love.
He was even there through hard times. He isn't one of those friends who leave you to solve your problems all alone. I know some people like to solve their problems alone, but me, I love Ethan's company, and when he helps with things, it just shows me he cares, and I love that feeling. He makes me feel special, and that right there, is why he's special.
Recently, I had fallen for my bestfriend. Not literally, but I had fallen in love with him. You can see how my eyes sparkle when I see him. I get butterflies when I'm around him, and his smile brightens my whole world. His presence is enough to make me feel happy. I know it's cheesy, but he's my whole world. To me, he's super special. His happiness comes before anything. Without him, I'd be lost.
When my mother had died, Ethan was there for me. He put me in front of his sports, studies, and even his own happiness. And only just to make me happy. He cares so much for me, and I know he does. Just wish he would love me the same.
Even then, Ethan Dolan is still the most special person in my life. I love him.

She sets down her pencil, letting out a sigh. She didn't care that the teacher would read this. I mean, it's not like he's going to tell Ethan. All he's gonna do is read and grade.

She couldn't help but think who Ethan was writing about. She glances his way, seeing his brows furrowed, concentrated hard on the paper he's writing. She sees his lip tug up into a smile as he's writing, making her smile to herself at the sight.

She looks back at the teacher, and gets up from her seat to hand in the paper she had just wrote. She gives the paper to the teacher, and walks back over to her seat, but not before he gives her a quick thank you.

He skims the paper closely, casually looking back up to look at Carter, then at Ethan. He can tell Ethan's completely oblivious to the fact that Carter had strong feelings for him.

Speaking about Ethan; yes, he likes Carter. But he isn't sure about dating her. I mean, he likes her in that way, but he also likes her as a friend. He's confused. He thinks: even if they were to date, it could ruin their friendship, which he adores a lot. He's scared, you could say.

After the teacher had finished reading Carter's short essay, he scribbles down a quick A as well as a note to the side. Deciding to give the paper back to her, he calls her name to come receive it.

She walks over to her desk, grabbing the paper, holding it downward so no one could see if she had gotten a good or bad grade.

Sitting back in her desk with a sigh, she turns the paper around slowly. She spots the letter A in bright red pen, as well as a note.

'Go for it, you've got nothing to lose'

END OF CHAPTER THIRTEEN 🖤

I know it's a short chapter, AND IM SORRY but I had nothing planned for it anyway so. Plus, it's kind of a filler, it may be important later in the story. I say may, because I don't know if I'll use it later on.

Also very sorry you had to wait for it. Like, I've been wanting to publish it but I wanted votes so.

Until next chapter! Cya ✌🏻
