Thursday- two days until Homecoming.
-
"Hey guys." I wave a little wave towards Lacey, and Lexi. "Hey, Carter." They say at the same time.
We're at lunch right now, and they're sitting at the table in which Ethan and his friends seat at. They aren't there yet, making it the perfect time to slip in the question.
I take a seat next to Lacey and across from Lexi. "How y'all been." I slump my shoulders, and take a deep breath. "Good... Although, I did get a shit grade on Mrs. Hunter's test." I chuckle at Lexi. "So, did you find a date to the Homecoming dance?" Lexi asks me, leaning forward in her seat. "Yeah, did you?" Lacey nudges my shoulder.
"Nope; I may just go alone. It wouldn't be bad if I didn't." I shrug. "Well, there's all these guys that asked me, but I have someone in mind that I really want to go with." Lexi sighs. "And who's that?" Says Lacey.
She blushes a light pink, and places her hands on her face in attempt to cover her blush. She mutters something, but me and Lacey could barley hear her out. "What?" I ask.
"Grayson." She mutters a bit louder this time for us to hear. Lacey and I whip our heads to look at one another, wide-eyed, before 'aww'ing her.
"Shut up." She laughs, smacking my arm. Me and Lacey join her in laughing as well.
"So, speaking of Homecoming dates, I'm assuming you and Ethan are going together?" I ask once our laughter has died down.
"Yeah." She chuckles. I nod, thinking maybe this might be a good time to slip in the question. "So... do you love him?" She turns her head to me. "Oh, no." She chuckles, pulling a lock of hair behind her ear. She looks down, to hide her blush.
"Well, I mean.. maybe. I don't know. I don't think I love him yet, but I'm getting there." She giggles. I just nod, and focus playing with my nails after.
Laughter fills the cafeteria, and I immediately know Ethan and his friends have showed up. Grayson jumps into the seat next to Lexi, Cameron sits next to him, Kendall walks over and seats himself next to me.
A hand ruffles my hair, making it all messy, and chuckles escape everyone's mouths, even mine. "Hey to you too, Ethan." I fix my hair, as he takes a seat next to Lacey. And from the corner of my eye, I see him shake his arm around her waist.
"Hey babe." Ethan says, giving Lacey a peck on the cheek. She blushes, and caresses his jaw, saying it back to him. I stare at them, completely ignoring the fact that Ethan didn't say hi back to me, but I mean it's okay. Right?
"Hey, Morris!" Grayson snaps his fingers in front of my face, snapping me out of my gaze. "Hm?"
"I need some advice/help." He sits up, placing his elbows on the table. I don't reply, telling him to continue. "I like this girl." He starts, I glance to the spot next to him seeing Lexi was gone. She must've went to say hi to her friends or something. "And?"
"Well, I wanna ask her to the Homecoming dance, but I don't know how."
"Just say 'hey, wanna go to the dance with me?'. Not so hard." I chuckle. "Yeah, but I want it to be big. I don't know I want it to mean something. I want it to be cliché."
"Why? This ain't no wedding proposal, Gray." I say in a duh tone.
"Yeah" he drags out the 'yeah', "but I could definitely see her as my wife one day." We laugh. "Okay, but first, who is it?"
