I do not claim to have any affiliation with Victor Hugo, Schonberg and Boubil, Cameron Mackintosh, Tom Hooper or any source relating to the professional adaptations of Les Misérables.
This is a story of fiction that has been in the works for ten years. I have chopped and changed the matters of this tale more times than I would like to admit, but I love this story. I hope you do too.
It follows a blend of musical, book and 2012 film verse, but the core story and characters remain the same. One thing that has put me off publishing and completing this story is the depiction of Enjolras and Les Amis de l'ABC. The brick was first published in 1862, and I believe that the notion of 'OOC' is almost irrelevant on a text that has been in the public artistic sphere for so long. I depict these characters how I see fit.
Finally, this is not a G-rated tale. It contains violence, death, notes of a sexual nature and a plethora of other dark themes. The title of the novel alone should tell you as much; this is not a happy tale.
I hope you enjoy this work. I have put my whole ass heart into this piece, from being thirteen and naïvely obsessed with Les Mis, to being twenty and procrastinating my final year of uni by continuing said obsession. (update as of 2023 - I shall be twenty-four in two weeks. I have a master's degree, and yet this story is not yet complete. I think of it often.)
