About a Month
It's been almost a month since school started. Feels like a century. Years even. When I get to school I make my way to class. I takeout my things and have a seat when I get there. A few minutes later Heck walks in and sits down next to me. We don't speak as usual. Unless work is involved. It's a nice and boring understanding. I run a hand through my hair and sigh as I take down the notes on the board. Our teacher comes around and hands us a rubric for our project. I read it over and were suppose to work with our partners. Just dandy. I sigh. It's an out of school project. Now I have to see him out of school and not just in to. So amazing. Any other girl would be thrilled about this, but not this one.
"When do you want to start working on it?" He asks as he jots down the notes. I glance over at him and shrug. "Well we have to do it sometime or we won't get a grade."
"Whenever works for me. I have nothing planned."
"Shock." He says with a sly smirk.
"Asshole." I mutter while grabbing my things hurriedly.
"Today. My house. The quicker we get this done the better." I shrug. He writes something down on a peace of paper and slides it over to me. I read it. After school, 2:50. I should be home by then. With his address scribbled on it. I tuck it away. "Are you coming? Because I could be doing better things with my time than hanging out with you."
"Were not hanging, were doing a school project together, you idiot and yes I am. Looks like I don't have a choice" I role my eyes and go back to my work. I can feel his eyes on me. I just ignore him. He's such a jerk.
After school I get into the car. Carlos asks me the same questions and I answer them the same, except one.
"Straight home he says?"
"No." I hand him the address. He smiles. "I need to be there at three. Before then I need to stop at the music store.
After we go to the music store its almost three twenty. I get to Heck's house I get there at least thirteen minutes after.
"Do you need me to wait?" Carlos asks.
"No. I'll call you when I need you. I'll be here for a while." He nods. I get out and go up. The door man lets me in and I go up and find the apartment number. I knock and he answers.
"Thought you weren't coming." He says. I role my eyes and he opens the door and lets me in. I go inside and look around. Nice place. Not big, but nice.
"Nice place." I say.
"Thanks." He waves e over and we walk down the hall to his room. He sits on his bed and I sit at his desk. He pulls out his things. "Ok so the project is to create a board that shows who your partner is. Tell me about yourself." He waits for me to speak.
"What do you want to know?" I ask.
"Just about you in general. I can't put quiet nobody on the board." I role my eyes and pack up my things. I don't need this shit, I won't be insulted by some ass whole who I could probably get batter grade without.
"You can write down the things you think I need to know and I'll do the same. I honestly have better things to do than screw around with some stuck up ass hole who thinks he's better than me because you hang out with a bunch of idiots." I sigh and grab my bag once I'm done loading everything back into it.
"Oh and you don't think your better than any of us just because your daddy has money."
"I never said that."
"You act like it. You don't talk to anybody, you keep to yourself. You walk around with your nose stuck up in the air!"
"Screw you. You don't know anything about me. I don't talk to anyone because I have nothing to say. I hate this school and this place. I don't even like my parents! You and your friends walk around like you own everything, you don't own shit, but the twisted up faces you walk around with!" He just looks at me, shocked by my explosion. "Everyone in this damn place thinks being better than someone is everything, but it's not. If I thought I was better than any of you I'd say it. I don't have to imply it or act like it I could just say it." I finally stop out of breathe, my chest heaving up and down, I'm sure my face is as red as a beat by now. But I don't care.
