shawn
i woke up to the feeling of small arms wrapping around my waist, the familiar feeling of amanda's hair nuzzle under my chin.
"good morning," i whisper and she shakes her head into my chest.
"it ain't morning until i want it to be morning, mendes," she tussles back, pulling me closer.
"whatever you say, baby," i let out a soft laugh, closing my eyes as i rested my head in the crease of her neck and shoulder.
-
"shawn," i hear someone whisper, my eyes fluttering open.
"you got up without me, aye?" i sit up, rubbing my eyes so i could see amanda's beautiful body a little bit clearer.
"yeah, but i wasn't planning on getting ready for anything. i want a chill day," she says and i nod, then it hits me.
"wait, what day is it?" i ask and she looks at her phone.
"oh fuck," she curses and i check the time. 10:34 a.m.
"fuck, we might as well just stay home again," i say and she looks at me, her eyes flowing with the same i idea i had in mind.
i nod and she slowly walks over to me, connecting our lips as it all goes uphill from there.
-
"shawn?" my name rolls beautifully off of her lips as she rests her head upon my chest.
"yeah?"
"can you sing for me?" she asks and i shift a bit, facing her.
"what?"
"i heard you singing the other day, and i want you to sing to me. will you?"
"sure," i smile softly, "what song?"
"closure, by hayley warner," she says and smile, i always loved that song.
"i knew it was over when the fighting stopped, you were too checked out to give a fuck, but i stayed, didn't want to let it end that way, so we went back & forth for months, too afraid to cut our losses and walk, but there was only so much we could take. it's like we are lying on the beach, and the tide is at our feet. it will soon be at our heads and take our breath, so, i don't wanna say it but somebody's gotta say that it's over. seeing you defeated doesn't bring me any closer to closure," i sang softly to her, watching her eyes flutter closed and follow my voice. i finished the song, feeling her warm and soft lips press against mine, thanking me.
"you have a beautiful voice, mendes," she compliments me.
i laugh, "sure."
"it's true, don't doubt yourself," she pushes my chest, laying her head down on it.
"thanks," i say quietly, kissing the top of her head gently.
"we really gotta wake up on time tomorrow," she says and i nod.
"yeah, the year just started and we've already skipped twice," i say and she looks up at me.
we smirk at each other, high-fiving.
"i wish it wasn't a thing," she huffs, keeping eye contact with me.
"me, either," i sigh, but smile at her.
"wow," she kisses me.
"what?" i stick out my bottom lip.
"sometimes all i need is that smile," she whispers and my smile fades, but in a good way. i lean down and attack her lips, making the kiss intense instantly.
"i love you, amanda," i say as we find a moment to breathe.
"i love you, more," she kisses me before i could deny.

the rest of that day really only consisted of us.. making love. that's all we really felt like doing, so that's what we did.
