~Vic~
Tonight Kellin and I (as instructed by Jaime) were going out to dinner and to work through one of his question packs. I was so excited and happy to get to spend an entire evening with Kellin. I smiled into the mirror as I finished buttoning up my shirt and fixing each curly strand of hair into place under my snapback.
Just then, I heard the doorbell ring, echoing up from downstairs.

"I got it, see you later Mike," I yelled, throwing on my jacket and going downstairs.

"Hey," I smiled, opening the door to greet Kellin.

"Hey, you ready to go?" Kellin asked, luckily not seeming totally annoyed by spending an entire evening with me, although his attitude was still a little frosty towards me.

I nodded and followed him out to his car, climbing in the passenger side.

"Did Jaime give you the question pack?" I asked him to fill the awkward silence as we pulled out of my driveway.

"Yeah," he replied, not looking at me, his eyes seemingly glued to the road.

I nodded slowly, trying desperately to think of something to say to fill these gaps of silence. I never remembered it being this hard when we were dating.

"So, uh, how was your day?" I offered, awkwardly repositioning my hat out of uncomfortableness.

"It was okay. Yours?" He responded a little bluntly.

"Yeah fine, Tony and Mike skipped today so I was pretty alone but other than that I enjoyed it," I smiled brightly.
He snorted.

"I forgot what a nerd you are, who enjoys school?" He mocked.

"I... uh, well, you see..." I trailed off feeling an embarrassed blush rise up my cheeks and awkwardly coughing.

"Okay, were here," he announced, sighing in what sounded like annoyance and getting out of the car.

I swallowed the lump in my throat. I knew I was being pathetic, but I was really looking forward to tonight and I thought Kellin would maybe be nicer to me. Especially after his thoughtful gift in my locker.

I trailed behind him, hands in my jacket pockets and looking down at the pavement, tracing along each crack with my eye.

"Come on, Vic," he groaned, taking hold of my hand and pulling me a little roughly towards the restaurant.

I let out a groan of pain as I was pulled forward, tripping over an uneven part of the pavement and falling to the ground. The cold, hard cement knocked the wind out of me and the uneven part sticking up left a nasty red gash on my cheek, causing blood to run down my face.

"I'm so sorry Vic are you okay?!" Kellin asked frantically, crouching next to me.

"Yeah," was all I could manage to mumble in reply, my ribs and cheek both screaming in pain.

A few salty tears began to run down my face as Kellin picked me up. He helped me to stand, supporting me around the waist. He retrieved a packet of tissues from his pocket and gently mopped up the blood, also drying my tears.

"Hey, it's okay," he said softly, tilting my chin up and smiling at me. I smiled back, unable to help it.

"You alright, bud?" He smiled, rubbing soothing circles on my sore back. I sniffled and wiped, my remaining tears, relaxing into his touch. I felt safe and loved in this moment and it felt so amazing to receive that from the person I loved most.

"Yeah," I told him, offering a small smile.

"Come on, let's go enjoy our meal," he spoke, holding my hand and walking me into the restaurant.
