AFTER THE MOVIE, THE six of us wound up in, yet another, empty parking lot. This one belonged to a gas station. Upon parking, Elijah and I had gotten into Hardy's van.
"You're cool if we smoke, right Devon?" Mona checked.
"Uh, sure," I mumbled. "I think I might go and get a donut."
"Get me one too," Elijah ordered me.
"Okay, well since I'm taking requests, does anyone else want one?" I checked.
"You might as well get a twelve pack," Hardy told me. I nodded and pulled the van door open. I walked into the gas station and the clerk smiled at me. I went over to the donuts and started shoving some into bags.
After the donuts, I grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and then put them all on the counter. After paying for them, I left and noticed the smoke pouring out of the windows of the van. I paused for a moment before shaking my head and getting back in.
As I was handing out the bags to everyone, I couldn't help but notice the smell. I could see a cigarette hanging out of Mona's mouth, but it didn't look like a generic one. Like she'd made it herself.
After taking a drag, she passed it to Vernon. I munched on my donut quietly, watching what they were doing and wondering why it smelt so weird. They passed it around. which kind of creeped me out because germs.
"You want a try Devon?" Hardy asked as he held it out to me. Elijah laughed loudly and took it off of him before I had the chance.
"Devon wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole," Elijah told them and put it in between his lips. I frowned as Elijah inhaled the cigarette, because since when did Elijah smoke. On top of my slight confusion, I was very offended that he would assume that I didn't want it.
"You don't know me Elijah," I told him.
"Mhmm," he hummed. "Just like how you don't sleep need to sleep with a nightlight."
"W-What?" I stammered. "I do not! For you information, I get notifications on my phone in the mid- you know what? Just give me that."
I snatched the cigarette off of him and his eyes widened. Vernon cheered as I sucked in the smoke.
"Devon no," Elijah huffed. I took it away from my mouth and started coughing uncontrollably.
"T-That is not a smoke," I choked.
"Of course it's not," Elijah snapped and yanked it off of me. He handed it to Tom and then pulled my eyelids further up. "Fuck. Vincent is going to murder me."
"Why are you doing drugs?!" I yelled.
"Look," Elijah sighed and turned to the others. "I'm going to take her home."
"Sure thing," Mona snorted, "party pooper."
"Shut up," Tom ordered her.
"Why?" Vernon whined as Elijah pulled the door open. "It's not often that Elijah is the one ruining the fun."
"I'll talk to you guys soon," Elijah chuckled as he pulled me out of the car. He pushed me into his mother's and then started driving us home. "You aren't going to tell anyone about this... Are you?"
"I'll get in as much trouble as you," I muttered. "Why didn't you tell me that you did that?"
"How would I even begin to tell you that?" Elijah rose an eyebrow. "Oh hey Dev, just thought I'd let you know, I smoke weed. Not the annoying plants, the plant."
