"I LIKE TO THINK that there are an infinite amount of numbers," Elijah told Isiah and I as we tried to work on our science project. By our project, I meant mine and Isiah's. Elijah had nothing to do with it, but insisted on sticking around as we worked. "The only thing in the world that's indefinite."
"That's stupid," I muttered and continued scrolling through the article about atoms. "There can't be an infinite amount of numbers between one and two seconds so you're wrong."
"Oh Devon," Elijah frowned. "Must you be such a spoil sport?"
"We're kind of busy," Isiah clicked his tongue. "You're really not helping."
"What about you Isiah?" Elijah ignored him. "Where do you stand on infinite numbers?"
"I agree with Dev," he sighed in defeat. "You're just really dumb Eli."
"Ouch," Elijah gasped.
"Can you please let us work now?" I begged.
"Hey, where's Kendall?"Elijah asked. "She would agree with me."
I saw Isiah's jaw tense as Elijah mentioned Kendall. Which kind of made me wonder, because as far as I knew Elijah and Kendall were actually kind of good friends.
"I mean, I could just call her if I wanted," Elijah shrugged.
"Hey," I snapped at him. "We need to get this done and either we do it here and you don't annoy us or we're just going to go to my house and then you won't be allowed to talk to us at all."
Elijah sighed and crossed his arms across his chest. He didn't say anything for a few more seconds before huffing and getting up. He left the dining room and Isiah watched him until he was out of sight.
"Thank you," Isiah said quietly. I looked up and smiled at him before continuing the research on atoms.

First period sports class, was there anything better?
First there was the fact that students weren't allowed to wear the sports uniform to school, even if they had it first period. But the gym never turned the air conditioners off, so as if having to get dressed in front of every other girl in the class was bad enough, but you also had to do it while you were freezing cold.
But that's the worst of it right?
Wrong.
Elijah goddamn Morgan was in the exact same class as I was.
"It must be my year," he smirked as he saw me.
"It mustn't be mine then," I muttered.
"Listen up!" One of the gym teachers called. "Class A, you're on the right side of the gym, Class B, the left."
I walked to the left and the other two teachers laid soft balls along the middle line.
"No," I gasped.
"What's wrong?" Elijah asked me quickly. "Are you okay?"
"It's dodge ball" I whispered and looked at him in shock. "On the first day?"
"Do you know how to do the foxtrot?" He asked me.
"The fo- What?" I frowned. "Why would I know how to do the foxtrot?!"
"Dodge ball is exactly like the foxtrot," he said and I rose an eyebrow at him. "Okay, not exactly like it, but there's a certain finesse in both. Listen closely, this is Elijah Morgan's guide to surviving dodge ball."
