Night woke up in the middle of the night to the sounds of combat. And screaming. There was lots of screaming.
She looked over at Wither, who happened to be staring right at her.
"Why are you staring at me," Night asked.
Wither didn't answer. Instead, he moved his gaze to the ceiling.
Night quietly got out of her bed, and knelt down beside his.
"Wither, you okay?"
He tried to answer, but the pain he felt from the last battle was unbearable.
"Oh, right. I thought the potion would've fixed that up..."
Wither seemed confused.
Night looked back towards Zale, who was fast asleep - in a hole he had dug in the floor.
She turned back to Wither, who was once again staring at her.
"Wither..."
Night inched slightly closer.
"You've been so kind to me..."
Wither seemed confused again.
"You don't deserve to be like this..."
Wither looked up at the ceiling again, his eyes partially closed.
"Nobody deserves to be like this..."
He looked back at Night, who stared him in the eyes with a worried look. The two stared at each other for a few minutes, before a loud scream from outside broke the silence.
Wither seemed a bit worried.
"Don't worry, Wither. You'll be fine..."
Night carefully leaned over to hug him, but the injuries were far too spread out for her to be able to do so without hurting him.
She got up to walk back to her bed, when she saw a glowing, orange face staring at her.
