Wither was unsure of this new land. Known as Dementorial C (it was taken over by the Kingdom of Dementorial), it was filled with houses - in one section. Everything else was empty, except for a single Dungeon.
Wither now had to get used to not living underground, which would prove to be a difficult task for him. At the current point in time, he was just glad the Corruption had been in the world. Not much of it, but some of it.
He carefully clambered down one of the massive chasms within the Corruption, being sure to have a good grip on the wall at all times.
Why do I even bother, Wither thought to himself.
His foot slipped, forcing him to fall down the rest of the way. Luckily for him, this was the one chasm he had set up a pool of water in.
He quickly grabbed on to the edge of the pool, and pulled himself out of it.
Wither never did like the water. He didn't know why, either. He always had flashbacks of someone drowning in front of him, but that didn't really seem terrifying enough to have made him dislike it. Strangely, although he doesn't like water, he does like the feeling of it on his skin.
Wither stared into the massive tunnel that ran before him. It was lined with ebonstone, a familiar and common material to him.
Hesitating, he slowly walked down through the tunnel, which was crawling with Eaters of Souls.
Wither soon heard footsteps behind him, as if someone was running towards him. He turned around quickly, and blocked a sword that was about to chop his head open.
The sword kept coming. Wither did everything he could to continue blocking the offending weapon, which just barely scraped his shoulder.
Wither kicked his rival down, then walked up to him.
"State your name," Wither said, impatiently.
"Hey, no need for the sword, kid," the opponent said, "it's just me! Zale!"
Wither hesitated, then put the Night's Edge away.
"You're getting better, kid." Zale reassured him of his skill.
He knew about Wither's childhood. He know about his parents' deaths, his brother's kidnapping, and Wither's own suffering.
"Well, it happens when I train with you," Wither responded.
Zale let out a tiny laugh, then quickly stood up.
"Oh, and we're being attacked by the Crimson again."
Wither paused, then let out an angry sigh. Without speaking, he hooked onto the side of a nearby exit, and pulled himself to it, using his Rocket Boots to help him.
When he climbed out of the hole and to the surface, he couldn't believe what he saw - a full-on attack, with Blood Crawlers, Face Monsters, Crimaeras, and even the Brain itself. All of them were charging straight for the Corruption.
Wither, angry and annoyed, whistled loudly, causing hundreds of Eaters of Souls and a few Devourers to surround him.
And that's when the war started.
Creatures fell left and right. Devourers slammed Face Monsters into the ground, Blood Crawlers tore Eaters of Souls in half...
It was an absolute bloodbath.
Wither fought on furiously, with Zale by his side.
Crimson creatures came from all over, swarming Wither and Zale, and eventually overpowering them.
Wither did a last-ditch attempt to survive - he threw down a stick of Dynamite, grabbed Zale, and flew off.
The Dynamite exploded, killing a large group of enemies.
Zale swung himself down. Not to the ground, but to the Brain.
He attempted to stab the brain with his sword, but the Creepers that orbited he Brain bombarded him. Zale hung on tight, trying not to fall.
Then, a Crimaera pulled him off of the Brain, and right into the waiting mouth of a Face Monster, which bit down hard, splitting Zale into two.
Wither didn't notice - he was too busy fending off Blood Crawlers.
The ground shook violently. As the Crimson monsters looked around in fear, and the Corruption units acted confused, Wither simply smiled.
"He's here," he said to himself, as a colossal worm - the Eater if Worlds - crashed through the ground, slaughtering countless enemies in the process.
Then the war continued. Many days later, the final Crimson enemy had died. It was a heavy loss for both sides - the Crimson losing their entire army, and the Corruption almost losing their entire community. Wither examined the carnage, hoping to find something to salvage, when something caught his eye...
Zale's expressionless face.
