Chapter 13: Just Rumors

Taylor's POV:

As I woke up, there was a knot in my stomach. Riley. Even though we worked it out yesterday, I'm still nervous to see him at school. Why would Jewel do that? She made it sound as if I were cheating. Because you were. No I wasn't! Forest and I are just friends. Oh come on, those eyes, that hair, the way he gets you. He's just like you. Riley is popular. You were nothing until you started dating him. Shut up! I'm you, you can't make yourself shut up. I love Riley. He's perfect, and I choose him over Forest. Okay, whatever you say...just remember your old self wouldn't want perfect. You know your poems can never become reality. Riley's going to end up breaking your little heart just like you broke Forest's.

I can't believe I'm arguing with that little voice in my head. All I know, is today, I need to spend time with Riley, and no one else.

Once I got to school, Riley was waiting for me at my locker as usual. Phew. "Hey beautiful" he winked.

"Hi handsome" I winked back.

"So, I was thinking, today after school you could come over and just hang out? My moms going to make dinner, and she'd love for you to come."

"Of course! It'll be fun" I smiled.

"Okay awesome. Oh, by the way, sorry for all the confusion yesterday."

"No, I'm sorry! I would've been just as upset if I heard what you heard."

"Yeah, well I'm glad it's all okay now."

"Me too"

I opened my locker and a tiny note fell out and floated to the ground. "What the heck?"

"Who's that from?" Riley asked, "it better not be from Cameron. You know, he's got a thing for you."

I opened the note:

We warned you to stay away from Riley. Don't you get someone like you doesn't go good with someone like him? You better look behind your back, because we're watching you.

"Rachel." I say bitterly.

"Rachel? Ugh she's a pain. Let me see that." He said grabbing the note from my hands. His eyes showed anger and confusion. He threw it to the ground. "I'll be right back. That girl needs to learn a lesson."

Before I could stop him, he stormed off. I went to first period, and the teacher bored us to death by reviewing things we already knew with a PowerPoint. "Okay class, that's it for today. You can talk and visit for the next ten minutes, but keep your voices low!"

Soon, everyone was talking like crazy. I got out a notebook and started writing random poems. "Aye, Taylor" A guy named Lucas said. I've never talked to him before, so I was surprised. "Uh, hi." I said awkwardly.

"So is it true you cheated on Riley? Someone said you were sleeping with some guy!"

WHAT.

"God, no. That's not true at all, I swear. Where'd you hear that?" I asked.

"It's just been going around. A lot of rumors have been lingering about you. Be careful girl!" He said raising his eyebrows.

I looked away in confusion, and continued writing. Soon, another person bothered me. "Taylor! Hey! Over here!"

I looked behind me and a girl named Vicky was waving her hand at me.

"What?"

"Did you and Riley get secretly married!?!" She shouted.
