The concert had just ended and I was buzzing with excitement about meeting my favourite band. The show itself had been epic and I couldn’t believe it had taken me this long to actually get to one of their UK shows, since they played gigs even before releasing their debut album. Even so I was ecstatic that I had finally made it to one of their shows, and it was where I go shopping on girly day-outs as well.

Now that the concert had finished we were waiting in line to meet them. The line itself seemed endless, and the thousands of screaming fans gave me a headache which wasn’t helped by the room itself, since it had good acoustics, meaning the screams echoed. Every so often some fan would faint at seeing them, which caused me to roll my eyes at their idiocy. You wouldn’t see any fainting coming from me thank you very much. I looked to my left, where my best friend Toni was standing. As usual she was on her phone texting someone, probably a cousin, since she has a large family.

“Toni? Really? I swear you are addicted to that thing” I grumbled. She looked up, her eyebrows raised.

“Hey don’t bag on it until you try it” she replied and I stuck my tongue out at her. I wasn’t too bothered about her phone because I preferred touch screens to the ones with the keyboard that slid out.

“Thanks for the offer but I think I will pass. Now seriously put that thing away, we’re gonna meet them soon, and I don’t want you making me look bad” I said, my voice becoming quieter at the end, she just shuck her head in amusement, and I knew she wasn’t actually listening.

The line moved forwards, and I was nearly there to meet my favourite band. It had taken a slight bit of persuasion on my behalf to make my mum agree to let me come. It wasn’t the fact that I was going to watch them with a friend; she was more worried about buying the tickets online with her credit card, since she hated online shopping. The hardest part about getting here was persuading my best friend Toni to come along with me, since she hated this kind of music. She was more into R & B stuff, which is rubbish if you want my opinion.

The line moved again, and before I knew it I was standing opposite the five boys that made up my favourite band. Josh, Matt, Max, Dan and Chris were on the opposite side of the table, and I noticed that Josh was the only person standing up. I couldn’t believe my eyes that You Me At Six were right in front of me. They each smiled at me and I returned it.

“So what would you like us to sign?” Josh asked me and I pulled a poster, that I had bought, out of my side bag I was carrying.

“This please” I said, but my voice came out quieter than I had intended it to. I wasn’t sure whether that was because I was losing my voice, thanks to the show, or because I was actually talking to Josh Franceschi. Josh smiled taking it off me. Wow I can understand why the fans faint, his smile is amazing, I thought as it made me go weak at the knees.

I watched as Josh scrawled across part of the poster before passing it on to Dan, who was sitting next to him, so he could sign it.

“The show was epic by the way” I announced to them, feeling the urge to say something.

“Really? Cheers” Josh replied in his accent. Really I think he’s the only one with a noticeable accent, but he’s still hot. Calm down Laura!

“What’s your name?” Dan asked me.

“Laura” I croaked and Dan frowned “-oh sorry about my voice, I think I’m starting to lose it” I said smiling and Dan grinned, obviously knowing I was losing my voice due to the show, before passing the poster onto Chris. Chris nodded at me and I nodded back, before he also scrawled on the poster.

“So how are you guys finding the tour?” I asked them and they all looked at me, making me feel awkward. Josh titled his head and rubbed his jaw but it was Max who answered my question.

“It’s awesome, and all of our fans are amazing” I nodded at his reply, just as I saw Dan’s gaze land on Toni. I turned to see that she was standing behind me, still on her phone.

Oh Toni, you’re such a fucking pain sometimes I thought to myself, before deciding I’d better explain her behaviour.

“This is my best friend Toni by the way” I announced to them, but Toni made no move that she had heard me. I smiled at the band before kicking her ankle really hard. It worked though, since she looked up and gave me such an evil glare. I fought the urge to swear at her.

I saw Max’s eyebrows rise just as he finished writing on the poster and passed it onto Matt, who was the only one left to sign it. I grinned at Max as I saw Toni take a phone call.

“Sorry about her, it’s just what she’s like. This is gonna sound really bad but she doesn’t listen to your music. She’s only with me because I bribed her to come since I didn’t wanna come on my own” I said and Dan frowned at me.

“What was the bribe?” he asked and I bit my lip thinking about whether I should tell them. I decided I would.

“Well she said she would come with me if I would go with her to an N-Dubz concert” I replied rolling my eyes before making a face at Max who laughed.

“I guess you don’t like them then?” Matt asked.

“You guess right” I replied and Josh chuckled. I looked at him curiously and he nodded at me while signing a picture for the fan that was after me.

“Well have fun at the N-Dubz concert. You will have to let me know how it goes” he grinned and I smiled back. What? That smile is so infectious.

“Will do” I replied before smiling at the rest of the group, “-thanks for signing the poster guys. You’re all awesome” I grinned and Max held his hand up. I returned his high-five before turning to walk off, and nearly walking into Toni, who was standing just behind me.

“You ready?” she asked and I rolled my eyes but nodded at her.

We walked towards the back of the room and I saw a table selling merchandise from the tour.

“Toni” I croaked and she stopped. I pointed towards the line and she rolled her eyes but joined me nonetheless.

After I’d bought a t-shirt with the band’s name on in fancy writing, and a rubber bracelet with the words ‘Take Off Your Colours’ on, Toni and I made our way out to the bus stop, ready to go home.
