Don't Go Looking

Kayla's POV
"I'm so sorry, Kayla." Evie told me, trying to comfort me.

I nodded, as I tried to shake the tears away. But with every attempt, they just kept coming back.

I saw Zac take a couple of steps toward me.

I didn't react, simply because I didn't know how to. The last thing I wanted was to push him away further.

But he did something I didn't expect.

He opened his arms and wrapped them around me in a tight, but comfortable way.

I felt my arms, as if by themselves, wrap around him, holding him as tight as I could.

This is what I needed right now.

I buried my face into his shoulder, as if trying to hide from the rest of the world.

He rubbed my back, as I felt his shirt grow more wet from my tears that I didn't realize I was shedding.

"I'm sorry." I said quietly. Just quiet enough that only he could hear it.

"It's okay, Kayla. It's okay." He whispered back.

"No it's not. I'm a bad person. I should never have shut you out. You deserve better than me. You always will." I said, letting the tears spill out casually.

We pulled away and he looked me in the eyes.

"No I don't." He said simply, as he walked away back to Evie.

I stood there, not knowing what to think of the situation. So I turned to face Hayden, who was looking another way.

I walked over to him.

"You okay?" He asked me with concern and worry.

"I'm fine. I would feel better if we could find Lilianna though." I said.

"Well, where should we look?" He asked me.

"I think I might have an idea." I heard Narissa say from behind us.

I instantly turned to face her, shocked at how quickly she got here. I didn't even realize that she was around until now.

"Whats that?" Evie asked her.

Zac and Evie moved towards us, trying to get incolved with what was happening.

"I don't know what Erik is planning to do, but knowing him and what he's done in the past, it can't be good." She said.

We all looked at her, hungry for information about Erik and his plans.

"So where could we try looking?" Zac asked.

I smiled, when he spoke. It was just nice to know that he cared about Lilianna.

"Mako Island." She said, simply.

Evie, Zac and I all met eyes. We had concerned faces and then, as if by routine, we all turned to Hayden, who was still paying attention to Narissa.

"How will we get there?" Hayden asked.

If only he knew.

"We'll use Zacs boat." Narissa said, looking at Zac more than any of us, like she was asking permission.

"That's fine. But we better hurry. The longer we leave Erik alone with Lilianna, the worse the situation will become." Zac instructed, as we all started to walk to Zac's house, which was nearby.

We all arrived shortly after, to discover that Zac's boat was not at the doc.

"I swear it was right here when I left. It was tied up and everything." He said.
