Mika POV

I rolled over and pinned her arms on the driveway. I looked at her and was shocked. Her mask had fallen off and I couldn’t believe who it was.

“Mallory?” I asked. She grunted and wriggled past my grip. “Let go of me.” she said angrily.

“Why the hell are you here?” I asked her. She demanded me once more to let her go but I didn’t budge. “You didn’t answer my question.” I say through gritted teeth.

“Fine. I didn’t expect you to be here. I came for Emily.”

“What did she do to you, huh? You nearly killed her.”

“It doesn’t matter. You wouldn’t even care. just let me go-“

She was interrupted by Emily speaking into the phone: “Hello? Yes? There is a masked woman at my house and she is armed… yes. I found her in my house… yes she tried to kill my-- um friend. Yes thank you. Okay the police are oh—“ Emily’s voice got weak  and she was starting to fall. I threw my arms out and caught her by the waist, “Emily! Are you okay? Do we need to get you to the hospital?” Her eyelids fluttered she softly croaked, “Mika… don’t leave me…” after that her head fall back and she lie there in my arms. “Emily! Emily Please! Wake up, love! Please! Mallory what’s going on? What did you do? Why isn’t she responding?” Mallory sat up and said, “I- I gave her some Ketamine and she was knocked out.”

“What the hell is Ketamine, Mallory? What the hell is wrong with you?” She looked at me worried, “Well it’s a drug that puts you out and sometimes you can lose your memory.”

“What!? What am I gonna do if you wakes and doesn’t remember me? Or her parents? Oh shit… her parents will be home very soon. Mallory we need to get her to the hospital.” I picked Emily up in my arms and she seemed heavier than when I did this at the theatre. It’s her dead weight. Oh God. What am I gonna do? I lay her down gently in the back seat and shut the door. I turned around when I heard a loud siren and blue and red flashing lights. I looked at Mallory and she stood there on the driveway her face pale white. The officer came out of the car and walked over to me, “What’s the problem here?” I glanced at Mallory who looked like she was about to cry. But I didn’t care; she could have really hurt Emily. “It’s her. She snuck into my girlfriend’s house and threatened her and me with her gun. She also injected a drug into her arm so now I need to get her to the hospital. She’s not waking up.” The man nodded and said, “We’ll take for the night. Her parents will be contacted since she’s a minor and she might have to be expelled from school.” I nodded back and thanked him. I quickly drove Emily to the hospital and re-explained the whole thing to the nurses and doctors. They took Emily into the emergency room and told me to go wait in the waiting room. They said they would try and clear the drug out of her system and let me know what happened.

Instead of waiting in the little room with the TV on the wall, I decided to drive back to Emily’s house and hopefully meet her parents. When I arrived at her house the lights were on in all rooms of the house. I rang the doorbell and the door almost immediately opened. I saw a wide-eyed worried woman answer the door. “Who are you?” she asked quickly.

“I’m Mika. I know where Emily is.”  She gasped.

“Who are you Mika?” she asked.

“I’m Emily’s… friend. She’s at the hospital and she was knocked unconscious. Her classmate, Mallory, came to the house and threatened her with a gun. I tried to save her but she threatened me as well. The police have got her now though. It is most likely that she will be suspended from school.” The woman, who I presume was her mother, was joined with a man at the doorstep. She looked as if she didn’t believe me. The man now spoke, “We are grateful that somebody was here when it happened. Please, don’t be shy we are just her parents—“

“Who’d like to her see her right now!” her mother blurted out at me. I lead them to my car and drive all of us to the hospital. I look in the rear view mirror to see that her mother eyed me suspiciously. She finally spoke up. “Mika? I put my finger on it, but I swear I’ve heard of you before. Emily talks about Mika all the time. She was just complaining to me the other day that she would love to see him but she couldn’t get tickets for his show.” I smiled. Wow. I was just so happy that she loved me the way I loved her. “Yes ma’am. I’m Mika. The Mika that she probably talks about. You see, I’m a singer.” Her mother gasped. “Really? I knew it! Your face is plastered on her walls in her room.” I chuckled, ‘Well isn’t that sweet.” We all walked in the hospital and waited for many hours.

Finally a young nurse walked in and said, “Emily Bellerose?” all three of us stood up at once. The nurse smiled and gestured us to the room. Emily was sitting up in bed and she looked exhausted. Emily’s mother rushed to her side and kissed her all over her face, “Oh Emily are you alright, love?” Emily smiled “Yes. Thank you Mum.” her father hugged her and held her face in his hands, “Emily, I’m so glad you’re okay.” Her mother hugged her once more and when their embrace paused Emily looked at me. I smiled. She gave me a disgusted face. She faced her mother and asked, “Mum, who’s he?” my heart dropped into my stomach. She didn’t remember me.
