"Klaus, please. I just want to say goodbye to my best friend," Stefan pleaded with the newly turned hybrid.
Klaus rolled his eyes with a sigh before looking down at his watch, "You have half an hour. Go."
Stefan wasted no time in running to her house, barging in through the front door and scaring the life out of her.
"Jesus, Stefan. I know this generation lacks manners, but knocking is still a thing," she noticed the serious look on his face. "Is something wrong?"
"No. I, uh, I just wanted to say goodnight."
"Okay. Goodnight," a light laugh left her lips before she realised what he was really telling her. "Goodnight or goodbye?"
"Both. I'm sorry, Hope."
"You don't owe me an apology," she ran a hand through her soft blonde waves. "I just wish you didn't have to go."
The green eyed vampire wrapped his arms around the girl's small frame, holding onto her tightly.
"I have to go now," he slowly pulled away from the warm embrace.
"Okay," she nodded, tears filling her forrest coloured eyes as they walked to the door. "Stefan, wait, I – " The words she had been longing to speak for not quite a year almost slipped out of her full pink lips. "I'm just really gonna miss you."
"I'm gonna miss you too, but I promise to keep in touch. Just, always have hope, okay?" Stefan gave the girl one last smile before planting a kiss on her hair and leaving.
Hope's feelings towards the youngest Salvatore were no secret – even his girlfriend new. It was obvious by the way her eyes would light up when she saw him, or how she suddenly seemed at ease in his presence.
How could she not? He was the only person to admire her seemingly endless hope for all things. He encouraged her, and told her that hope – along with love – was one of the few things that kept people going.
He told her to have hope, and that's exactly what she had for his return.
