Hope entered the Lockwood's mansion where the Homecoming had been moved, a sigh escaping her plump lips. She hadn't wanted to come but Matt, and her mother (who had been home more often in recent times), had thought it would be good for her to finally get out of the house.
Moments after having passed over the threshold a familiar face was towering over her. She rolled her eyes before he had even opened his mouth.
"I would like to apologise on my sister's behalf," Klaus spoke sincerely.
"She almost killed me," the blonde glared harshly. "Sorry isn't gonna cut it."
"If she had known you were with child, I can assure you she wouldn't have done what she did." He reached out and gingerly placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry you had to go through that."
"I don't want your sympathy," Hope shook her head, moving so that his hand fell off her shoulder.
"Then what do you want?"
"I want my best friend back," she answered after a silent moment.
"You know," Klaus called out to her as she began to walk away, "even if I give him his freedom, it's not guaranteed that he'll turn his humanity back on!"
The human just shrugged in response, continuing to make her way through the party.

Hope furrowed her brow as she wandered through the Lockwood's mansion. Even though she had been in the house hundreds of times, she had found herself lost. She had always been bad with directions. The blonde found herself walking towards what sounded like grenades blowing up, but she couldn't be sure.
Hope entered the room in time to see Klaus standing over an older looking man, presumably an Original like himself, with a stake in his hands. The wood pierced the older man's heart, and his body burst into flames.
"What the hell did you do?" Damon growled.
"He's earned his freedom." Hope watched Stefan let go of Damon and walk closer to Klaus. "Thank you my friend. You no longer have to do as I say. You're free."
Stefan looked back at where Damon had been, only to find that his brother had run away. He turned towards the door where he spotted Hope leaning against the frame, her hands nervously playing with the hem of her dress.
"Stefan," she began, taking a step forward.
"It's still Elena," he cut her off before she even had the chance to speak. "I choose Elena."
But his words didn't seem to convince her.
In all honesty, he didn't even convince himself.
