We got seated. Flickerman was informed of my episode on the train, while Meje and I got cozy. We sat together on a love seat, with a second love seat behind it and heightened, for Finnick and Mags to be seated. I was cuddling with Meje, acting the happy couple. I felt zero guilt using him, and that made me feel guilt. So that confused me. But I could act like nobody's business. The camera's flipped on and Flickerman immediately turned to me and smiled.
"Hello Panem, you look lovely this evening!!!!!!!" He said to the camera, turning back to me.
"Here we have two, well four, familiar faces. Mags and Finnick, former District 4 tributes that won a fight to the death. In front of them, Meje, Victor from 2 years ago in District 9. And of course, our beautiful lady of honor, Annie CRESTAAAAAAAA!" he said loudly, and happily. I smiled and waved at everyone and shook Caesar's hand.
"Now tell me Annie, why is Meje here?" he asked, as if it was between only us. I blushed, and shared a look with Meje.
"We're sort of seeing each other." I admitted.
"How lovely! Two victors, from two different districts, falling in love. May I say, you two look wonderful together. And can I know what the hair is all about?" I was momentarily shocked by the question. But I looked at Meje and realized he had blue hair too. Which made me smile.
"We did it in honor of Annie's beautiful District. I loved it when I visited. Wished I could live there." Meje said. His skin was so pale, and he was a baker. He wouldn't last a week. But instead of saying that I smiled.
"Exactly! And you may just get your wish Mejjy." I said playfully. He blushed. We made a cute pair. Caesar smiled broadly.
"How lovely is that." He said to the audience. Everyone applauded loudly and happily.
"Now I must say, your hair is a bold look. The new style of it. Was it your way of honoring Mags?" he asked me. I nodded.
"Yeah. She told me about how cutting hers was so freeing after her games, and I wanted to pay tribute to my mentor. She did a great job." I said, and Mags pleasantly patted my shoulder.
"That's charming. How've you enjoyed your Victory Tour so far?" he asked.
"Well every district is gorgeous. But I think I loved District 9 best." I smiled. Meje put his hand on my lap.
"Of course you did." The crowd laughed.
"Have you two even kissed yet?" asked Finnick, as if he expected it. Meje and I both looked at each other and then quickly looked away. The audience cheered us on.
KISS! KISS! KISS! KISS!
So we kissed. There weren't any fireworks like with Finnick. It didn't feel right at all. But I smiled as we pulled away to even louder cheers.
"Easily the cutest couple I've gotten to interview." Flickerman said with a smile.
"Now we must discuss tomorrow. Not only is it your big Victory Party, but your birthday as well."
"It is! I'll be 18!" I said happily.
"I'm sure this will be a great party. I've heard everyone invited got you a present."
"Oh! How exciting!" I said, I could almost believe this excited me. I bet Snow was eating this up. Then I remembered something.
"I have something I want to show everyone here. I know plenty of the audience will be at my party. In District 4 we have a few dances that are traditional as well as a very old, loved song. So Finnick and Mags will show you the dance as I sing the song." I said happily. Meje smiled at me. He was clearly happy about this. The band was cued up to start the song and an avox set a mic up on stage for me to use. I nodded as a thanks to her. I took a deep breath.
"This is a song about the ocean." I said softly, loving how the microphone made my voice echo. The music started softly. A flute beginning it. Finnick and Mags stood beside me and both slowly spun, before grabbing each other's hands.
"Here we live in our little cabin. Our little cabin by the sea. Where the birds fly, where the birds sing. We live by the sea. Beautiful. So elegant. Our sea side home stays. Flowers dot beside the door. As the birds, birds soar." Finnick and Mags danced, the audience stayed silence. The music got louder.
"Here. By the sea. Where the waves crash the land and I can swim all day. Here. By the ocean. We are Panem's most beautiful District to see. Here I could stay all day. As the sea washes away. Every second of every minute. I could sing forever about the ocean and soft breeze. Here we live in our little cabin. Our little cabin by the sea. Where the birds fly, where the birds sing. We live by the sea. My home. Where the fish swim. My home. Where I live. My home. By the sea side. In our little cabin. Our little cabin by the sea. Where the birds fly, where the birds sing. District 4. It's home. For. Me." I held out the last note for what seemed like forever. Wild applause came in, like I'd never heard before. Finnick was staring at me, his eyes filled with adoration. Meje had the same look in his eyes. I curtseyed.
"That was beautiful." Flickerman said as we sat back down. "Simply beautiful"
"Thank you."
"Your voice is amazing Annie, and Finnick, no idea you knew how to dance." Finnick laughed.
"You learn." He smiled. Meje leaned over to me.
"You were amazing." He whispered in my ear. I blushed.
"Ooooh what did he say?" asked Flickerman.
"That she was amazing. She was. She looks gorgeous, she sings like...I can't even think of anything to compare it too. She is the greatest." Meje said.
"I think all of Panem agrees." Flickerman said, motioning to the crowd who broke out into another loud clapping session.
And on went my interview. Everyone loved me. We got to the hotel and I gave Meje a kiss goodnight for the camera. And then up the elevator we went to our floor.
