Merida stuffed her face with cakes. She was so hungry she felt like she could eat a horse. Riding all day and firing arrows always made her tired and hungry.
She began to feel uncomfortable, when she noticed her family was staring at her. Her mother was trying her hardest not to say "A princess dose not stuff her gob!"
Merida slowed down. "Sorry." She muttered.
"What on earth were you doing today that made you so hungry?" Queen Eleanor asked.
"Just the usual." Merida replied. "But I skipped lunch."
Her mother didn't say anything.
Merida decided to change the subject. "So, dad anythin' excitin'happin today."
King Fergus swallowed his meat. "No, not really." He said. "But I did git word of some Vikings."
"Vikings?" Responded Merida suddenly very interested.
"Aye, it's said that their raidin' a bunch this past year. Mostly the lands with most value. I makin' sure Don Broch keeps our guard."
"But why?" She asked "Scotland doesn't have a lot of money a valuable things."
"Aye, but what we do have is plenty of land. And I'm not goin' to be the first to give it away. Not without a fight. We'll drive those devils back to the sea, where they came from."
Then Queen Eleanor got in on the conversation. "Yes, but hopefully the Vikings will stay clear and we won't have to do any fighting."
"And what fun would that be." Fergus chuckled.
The Queen rolled her eyes.
Merida was always intrigued with the Vikings. From all the rumors she heard they sounded like a dangerous race. Every one of them were huge and muscular with full beards (the men of course) and they went to land to land thieving and claiming what's not rightfully theirs. But the most terrifying thing she every heard was that the Vikings rode dragons. Merida never really believed that, but she found it interesting. She always thought the Vikings just used it as a threat, because the rumor was very recent. When she was younger she was told that Vikings killed dragons and of course being young gullible she believed it. But now they are suddenly training Dragons? It just didn't make sense.
Although she found the Vikings interesting, she still recognize them as an enemy as her father did. And if Vikings ever came to her land she would be ready for a fight.
"Merida." He mother said disturbing her thoughts. "Did you do anything interesting besides the usual and skipping lunch?"
Merida was confused by this sudden question. "No, not particularly."
"Really, you didn't meet any new people?"
Now Merida was really confused "New people? There's not a lot of people out in the wilderness, Mum. What kind of people do you want me to meet?"
The queen stayed silent for a while and shot glances at King Fergus who was starting to look uncomfortable.
Finally she spoke "A young man perhaps."
"Mum!" Shouted Merida, highly offended.
"Now, Merida." Her mother spoke gently "Before you get all huffy, there's a good reason why I'm asking."
"I thought we put the marriage thing behind us!"
"I not trying to force you, Merida. It's just that we need an heir. I know you don't want to be married but could you at least consider it."
Merida started to calm down "It's not that I don't want to be married, just not to some stranger."
"I can understand that. I just want to know if you thought about it." He mother responded.
"I think about it all the time. I'm just waitn' for the right person to come. And if he doesn't, I won't marry."
Eleanor let out a sigh "Well, I trust your decision."
"As long as he not a Viking." King Fergus put in with a smile.
Merida laughed "I don't think I'll fall in love with a Viking, Dad."

Hiccup was starting to feel sea sick as the boat rocked back and forth against the ocean's waves. He usually didn't like going on raids. He never liked going on raids. But his father invited to...get his mind off of things. Of course Hiccup knew the exact "things" he was talking about.
At least he was allowed to bring Toothless.
He walked up to his father who was looking though a spy glass.
"So where are we going?" He asked him.
"Scotland." Stoick replied."
