I watch wide eyed as Kian stumbles backwards, his hand flying up to cover his now bleeding lip. Why would she hit her brother?

"Kenzie, what the hell?" Kian says. We are all gonna get it now, but Kenzie doesn't seem fazed. She ignores her brother and walks over to me looking concerned.

"You let him get hurt." She growls gently touching my arm. I wince in pain cause honestly it hurts real bad, but it could have been worse.

"Kenzie.." I start to talk but she cuts me off by grabbing my hand and dragging me into the kitchen. She then proceeds to push me down in a chair and grabs the first aid kit. I watch her carefully as she rummages around pulling out the items she needs.

Normally i'd ask why she's so worried and concerned, but maybe just maybe she wasn't lying about her feelings on the bridge. Maybe, there's a chance for us. But I know i have to end whatever we think we have now, before it gets worse; before Kian gets more suspicious than he already is.

"Kenzie.." I start again but she shushes me. I watch her as she cleans and bandages my wound, making sure to thoroughly clean it. I try not to make much noise but sometimes i can't help myself. When she's finally done she just stares at my arm. It's now or never.

"Kenzie, please listen to me." I say. She slowly looks into my eyes and i want nothing more than to ignore my own mind; To go back on my promise to Kian.

"Yeah." She answers.

"We..can't be together...this...us..it won't work." I slowly say.

"But-" i cut her off by shaking my head.

"I'm sorry. I'm just your bodyguard. That's my job." I wince from my own pain in my heart and my arm. Telling her this is breaking my heart.

"So you just want to forget about our 'relationship'?" She asks looking angry.

"I'm sorry Kenzie." I say before getting up and leaving the kitchen before i can change my mind.

I lean against the wall and sigh rubbing my hand over my face. How could everything go from easy to difficult so fast? I don't understand how one night could mess everything up.

"What happened in there?" I hear. I turn my head to see Crawford.

"Nothing bro." I shrug.

"If it wasn't nothing, then why do you look like you're heart just got broken?" He crosses his arms.

"Just..go talk to her." I say nodding towards the kitchen.

"Whatever man." he says before going into the kitchen. I pause and wait listening to their conversation.

"Kenzie?" I hear crawford ask.

I hear movement, which I assume is Kenzie hugging Crawford.

"I'm sorry he dumped you. He was a jerk for doing that Kenzie. One day you will find that guy who will appreciate you." Crawford says. Well ouch. That really hurt. I quickly leave before i can hear anymore of his "best friend advice".

I head outside to get some air, after changing into my co-op outfit incase we have one tonight and try to convince myself that I made the right choice, for the sake of this mission i was supposed to be on in the first place.

I jump as my phone starts ringing.

I pull it out to see Johnson's calling. This can't be good.

"Hello?" I answer.

"Dude, what happened tonight? JC came back to the base and he's furious. He snapped on his sister and she's been crying-"

"Johnson, slow down! You know the bridge that connects the two sides of town? Well Kenzie kinda dragged me out there and stuff went down between JC and Kian." I explain.

"Yeah, i'm aware. He's cursing up a storm about you G. Something about you and Kenzie?" He asks suspiciously.

"There's nothing going on between Kenzie and I. Whatever everyone thinks is happening isn't happening." I say.

"So then why did Kenzie kiss you on the bridge?" Johnson asks. I can see the stupid smirk on his face.

"I don't know man," by this time i've walked really far from the house and i'm not sure where i'm at. "It doesn't matter cause there's nothing happening."

"Are you sure cause-" He is cut off by a gun shot on his end.

"Johnson!?" I ask. He doesn't answer and all i hear is yelling and movement.

"Johnson!?" I try again. His phone hangs up.

"God damn it." I mutter. What happened over there?

"Gilinsky! Emergency!" I hear. I turn to see Kian and the rest of the gang. Where's Kenzie?

"Whats going on?" I ask.

"The house was attacked. We had to evacuate." Chris explains sounding winded.

"Where's Kenzie?" I ask panicked.

"She's right...here?" Kian looks around looking for his sister. "Where is my sister!?"

"Fuck this." I say before taking off towards the house with my gun out.

"Gilinsky!" I hear Kian yell, but i ignore him. My only mission was to get to Kenzie and protect her. How could Kian not pay attention to a head count or make sure his sister was out of the house?

As i approach the house i notice the lights are on and there are people outside; so i decide to sneak around the back. As i approach i notice two figures hiding behind a bush and a third figure raising their gun to shoot the other one. I hear Kenzie scream.

In a split second decision I raise my gun and shoot the third person. They fall to the ground and I quickly walk over.

"Kenzie?" I say.

I sigh relieved as she stands up from behind the bush with none other than that Matt guy. What is he doing here? But if he's here, what is going on over at JC's place?

"Gilinsky!" Kenzie lets go of Matt's hand and runs straight into my arms.

"Oh thank god." I say hugging her tightly. I pull away and check her over for cuts, brusies and other wounds. I start poking her and asking her if she hurts anywhere. She shakes her head no.

"Gilinsky, what the hell is going on?" Matt asks walking over with his own gun out. Why didn't he use his gun and protect Kenzie?

"We got ambushed going to checki on one of Kian's friends." I quickly lie. "Kian, Crawford, and myself got seperated from the others." I check my gun. If she knew that her brother basically bailed and didnt' make sure she was alright, she'd take my gun and shoot him the next time she saw him. My story sounded better.

"Is Kian okay?" She asks. I shrug in response to her question. I should have just told her the truth.

"I don't know. I came back to check on you because they mentioned going after you." I say glancing around. Fuck it, the truth can wait.

"Well i'm glad you're here." She smiles at me. I nod and grab her hand, almost regretting the decision, but pushing my feelings of regret aside.

"Me too." I say as she intertwines our fingers.

"I hate to interrupt this moment, but we have company." Matt says grabbing Kenzie's other arm and running forcing me to run with her as I hear gun shots go off. Kenzie lets out a scream.

"Keep running!" Matt says as we exit the backyard and enter the alleyway. Seriously?! That's his only advice right now?

As we run out of the alleyway i'm not paying attention till Kenzie crashes into someone and falls backwards. I'm quick to catch her.

"Kenzie?" i ask.

"Matt you're alive!" i hear a familiar voice say.

I look up to see someone i didn't want to see for a long time, at least not while i was still involved in the gangs.

"Oh my god Stephanie!" Matt hugs the girl. I immediately go rigid setting Kenzie on her feet.

"Stephanie?" I ask as Matt lets go of her. The girl turns and grins at me.

"Hello, big brother."

Hello indeed.
