Tell the flowers I said goodbye

I see you running through the woods tonight
Your feet are bare
And you're free again
Even if only for the shortest of times
You run
Because you are the wind
And you are the sky
(Sometimes I wish I could be the ocean so we could meet everyday, but I guess that's impossible)
I'm only the one who watches you climb mountains and dance with trees, embrace the world and then set it free.
You are beautiful and you are strong and you laugh like heaven and talk like honey
Because you are beautiful
You speak the language of flowers

You do not understand me
Because I am the city
I am smoke
And gasoline
You surely despise me
The flowers cry when I appear
(Crying is universal)
There's no consolation
No redemption
I corrupt you
I rape your home
I trash your life and call it my own
Still I love you
And maybe if the flowers didn't hate me you would teach me their language
So we could speak for hours and never be alone again.
(But that's only a dream, which is ironic, I guess, since I'm the nightmare itself)

You are pure
And violent
And rough
Like a storm
I am that darkness you run from
I stumble down the forest trying to hold you in my arms for the shortest of times
I know that even when you run from me you are beautiful. You are everything I'll never have and yes! I wish my feet would stop moving or that my rusty heart would stop beating so fast so I could go back to being insensitive
Wouldn't that be great!?
To not feel a thing
And kill you with my conscience clean
Clean!
I scream
And I beg the flowers to understand me
But who am I kidding?
I don't speak your language
I don't understand YOU

Forgive me my love
You deserve to run endlessly
But I don't
I wish I could run by your side
And climb trees
And sing the sound of love
But forever I'll sleep
Death to the city lights, with those neon signs
Luring you in

I cry
Because crying is universal
Do you hear me now?
Let my tears drop and help your friends grow
I will not live another day
As your nightmare

I sink
Tired and alone

And all that I can hope for
Is that you will miss me when I'm gone

Tell the flowers I say goodbye
