The small form under the covers shifted as he was poked by a long, slender finger. "Jihoon Hyung, you need to wake up." A melodic voice whispered. A blank face poked out of the covers, his slightly long hair a mess around him.
"Alright, thank you for waking me." Jihoon's waker looked startled and a bit confused. The older boy realized he had spoken using honorifics. But it was what he was comfortable with and his waker knew that, so he didn't mention it. Jihoon lifted his head once he heard a voice call for the boy kneeling next to his bed. "That's for you Seungkwan, you'd better go." Jihoon said softly. The younger boy grinned at him and scurried away.
"Coming~" he called cheerfully. Jihoon slipped out of bed and pulled up the covers neatly. He went into the closet that he shared with one of the three roommates he had. He shared the house with twelve other boys, all trainees at Pledis entertainment. They were training to in order to debut in a group called Seventeen. Jihoon shared the room with the two oldest Seungcheol and Jeonghan then Soonyoung. He shared a bunk bed with Soonyoung and the also the closet. None of them were awake yet.
Jihoon grabbed some clothes and walked into the bathroom then checked his phone. It was 5:16 and there were no missed calls or texts. Not that he was expecting any. No wonder there is no one else in the bathroom, it is fifteen minutes before everyone else would wake up. Tomorrow I'll have to wake up on my own. I don't want to become a burden to Seungkwan. How does he even know that I don't like showering with people? This is the third time he's woken me up this early. Jihoon set down his phone and clothes then turned on the shower.
Once Jihoon was dressed he grabbed his phone and the clothes that he slept in and walked into his room. He dumped the dirty clothes in the hamper and bowed a good morning to his hyungs who were getting up. He then left the room and walked into the kitchen where Jun and Mingyu were setting out water, apples, and granola bars. It wasn't really cooking but it was still their job because over half of the members weren't even allowed in the cooking area anymore after some failed attempts to make food.
"Good morning Hyung! Are you going to eat today?" Mingyu asked cheerfully. Jihoon nodded and grabbed one of the apples, though his stomach clenched at the thought of food. Jihoon didn't normally eat food in the morning, he only ate breakfast because his members worried when he didn't. Jihoon sat down and nibbled at the apple, waiting for some more of the members to come.
Jun and Mingyu made small talk with Jihoon but he mostly stayed quiet. He didn't consider himself very close to his members and for some reason, he didn't think that he minded. They all seemed close with one another, sleeping in the same bed occasionally, showering together, and various types of skinship that Jihoon didn't like. They respected his space and that was enough for him. Sometimes he would feel a longing to have contact with another human being, to feel close to them. Someone he could trust his secrets to. But he couldn't change the fact that he was close to none of them and friendships don't happen overnight. I have to push them away though. For their own good and mine. Jihoon held the apple on the table in front of him, lost on his own train of thought. The apple had one small bite out of it that was already browning. Seungcheol walked into the kitchen and tapped Jihoon on the shoulder, pulling him from the deep creases of his mind and making him jump. Seungcheol and Mingyu laughed, Jun just smiled and shook his head. Sometimes Jun seemed like the mom of the group, not Jeonghan. It was a shared role.
"Were you asleep with your eyes open, Jihoon?" Seungcheol laughed again. He was definitely the dad of the group, the childish, immature dad. But he was the one that Jihoon felt the closet to, since they had been training together the longest.
"No, I was just thinking."
"About what?" Seungcheol prodded. Jihoon turned his gaze from the apple to Seungcheol's face, which was close to his own. He leaned back, away from the curious face.
"Nothing important."
"Awe but Jihoon it's always important with you." Seungcheol whined. A very immature dad.
"What is that supposed to mean." Jihoon said the question more like a statement. Seungcheol sighed and pouted.
"You're our song writer. I bet your thoughts are in song form and I want to know them," he pulled up a chair next to Jihoon, "right guys?" He looked to Jun and Mingyu for support. They exchanged glances and shrugged.
"Well, your wrong."
"Huh?" Did he really forget what he said?
"My thoughts... they aren't in song format." Jihoon told him.
"That doesn't mean I don't want to hear them." Back in dad mode. Jihoon sighed. He doesn't know what he is talking about. He shouldn't want to hear my thoughts. They would probably like me even less if they knew my what I was thinking half of the time. Seungcheol smiled, unaware of the smaller boy's thoughts.
"Hyung, leave him alone, can't you see he's tired?" Jun pulled Seungcheol's shoulder back so his face wasn't so close to Jihoon's anymore.
"Yeah Hyung, no one wants to look at your face so early in the morning." Seungcheol stood abruptly and chased Mingyu around the the table, with a look that said 'this is war' on his face. A sleepy Jisoo walked into the kitchen, rubbing his eyes.
"Guys, what are you doing? It's not even six in the morning yet!" He said crossly. Mingyu immediately sat down in the nearest seat to him, which ended up being Jihoon's lap. Shocked and not thinking, Jihoon pushed Mingyu on to the floor. Seungcheol and Jun burst out laughing, Mingyu looked shocked, and Jisoo looked angry but was trying to hold in the laughter. More of the members entered the kitchen but stopped at the door, confused at the situation in front of them. Mingyu on the floor, Jisoo angry but not, Seungcheol and Jun were clutching their stomachs they were laughing so hard, and then there was Jihoon, whose head was resting on the table, trying to ignore the scene around him.
"Hyungs? We should leave now. Jeonghan Hyung will take care of the last group." Chan said cutely. Immediately Jun and Seungcheol stood up and Mingyu got off the floor, the two elders wiping at imaginary tears.
"Yeah Channie, we can go now." Seungcheol slung an arm over the maknae's shoulders. They all grabbed the water and snacks on the table, then the seven of them filed out the door, Jihoon last. Before he exited the dorm he took one look at the barely eaten apple then tossed it in the trash next to the door. He then followed the rest of the members into the chilly morning air.
