"Are you almost ready for the sleepover? It starts in 10 minutes!" I say to Lucinda, wrapping my arms around her waist while she puts the chips in the bowl. She straightens up and says "yup," with a pause she adds "are you ready to see Travis? You haven't seen him since the hospital." I roll my eyes, of corse I'm okay seeing the guy I was in love and my new girlfriend in the same room. "I'm fine" I reply, she seems convinced and quickly after the doorbell rings and Lucinda rushes over to answer it. I wipe a tear form my eye think about how I was with Travis before the accident. I manage to plaster a fake smile on my face just as Lucinda walks back into the room with the guys, Aaron, Dante, Zane, Laurence, Garroth, and... Travis. We make eye contact for a few seconds, but I quickly break it after I see the pain in his eyes, masked by the bright smile on his face. I busy myself straightening my already perfectly place sleeping bag. I start to shift it closer to Lucinda's when I see someone's feet a foot away from me, rolling out an emerald green sleeping bag. I avoid looking over to where I'm sure I'll meet Travis' eyes and walk over to Lucinda and give her a quick kiss. My eyes flicker over to Travis and I see him looking down with a hurt expression. I quickly turn away and slip away unnoticed to the bathroom. I quickly open the door and quietly close it again. I walk over to the porcelain sink, turn the silver taps, and feel the warm rush over the. I splash water on my face and look up at the mirror. Staring back at me in the reflection are a pair of emerald green eyes. I jump back, startled that Travis had snuck in the bathroom without me hearing. "Travis you're not supposed to go into a bathroom while someone else is in it" I hiss at him, quietly so no one outside the door could possibly hear. He gives a small unconvincing chuckle before his face becomes serious again, "what does it matter? It's nothing I haven't seen before." I roll my eyes and almost smile when I snap back to reality. "You need to get out" I say "please. I don't want my girlfriend to think I'm cheating on her with my ex." I go to open the door, but Travis blocks my way. "Travis what are you doing!" I say, feeling the venom in my words. He gently shakes his head and slowly moves out of the way, letting me pass. He reaches out and I feel his fingers graze my shoulder as I walk past. I stop for a beat, suddenly unsure of my step, but continue onwards not looking back.
