They walk hand-in-hand

Down the street.

Looking for a place

To rest their weary feet.

They're hungry with no home.

The man they left

Had a cruel desire.

He causes pain

With no regret,

So now the pair must find help.

Somewhere mommy no longer yelps.

The child, she cries,

She doesn't understand,

Why mommy must leave this man.

They've no place to go out of sight,

So in a homeless shelter at night,

The mother, she prays for some kind of light.

With bruises and a broken soul,

She asks herself, is there any hope?

She looks upon her resting daughter,

Praying that things will get better.

Through it all, no matter what,

They'll walk hand-in-hand

Down the street;

To a new life

They soon will meet.
