(A/N: I think I'm going to write a chapter similar to this one for each character. I think it'll be really cool.)

The Voltron team had been on a mission for at least a week, and there was no telling when they would get back. You sat in the dining room, your hand keeping your head up. You watched Coran wipe the surface of the table with a cloth. Truthfully speaking, you just wanted everyone to get back safely, especially Shiro.

There was no denying it, you had grown pretty fond of the black paladin. You and Shiro had gotten close over the course of a few months in space. You just understand each other. You drew circles with your finger on the table's surface, growing more bored with every passing tic.

Your head jerked up when you heard Allura's voice over the com, "All lions head for their hangars!" You got out of your chair and bolted down the hall to the control room. You skidded to a stop when your eyes met Shiro's. You locked eyes for a moment before you ran to him, pulling him into a hug. The rest of the Paladins headed down the hall to the kitchen. He wrapped his arms around your back and smiled. You let him go and stood back, giving him a smile.

"I'm glad you're back safe," You said.
"You didn't think I wouldn't, did you?" Shiro said, smiling back at you. "Come on," He said, nodded to where the others had headed. You two walked down the hall in a comfortable silence.

"Alright, let's find a pattern and take them out," Shiro said over the com to the other Paladins. Galra fighters had appeared out of nowhere and had begun to hit the weaknesses of the castle ship. The castle's particle barrier went up, but it can only hold for so long.

The Paladins nodded and began weaving through the swarm of Galra fighters, taking some out along the way.

"It looks like they're all trying to hit certain spots of the particle barrier. Always in a straight line across the center," Pidge called to the others.

"There's too many of them," you said to quietly.
"(Y/N), you can't go out there, our fighter hasn't been tested yet!" Allura exclaimed.
"Someone's gotta test it," You said. You turned and began running down the hall, pulling off your casual clothes to reveal your battle suit.
"(Y/N), no!" You heard Allura behind you, but you didn't stop. You knew you had to help them.

You entered the pod bay, running towards the pod Pidge modified. She fixed the speed booster bug, added some blasters on the sides and a cloaking device to top it off, turning it into a different sort of fighter pod. The only problem, was that none of them knew if it could fly with all of this added tech or not. So naturally, the first thing you do is get in that one, right?

You hopped into the pilot seat, strapping yourself in. You tapped the power button on the dashboard, and felt the engine powering up. Soon, you were hovering in the air. You didn't hesitate to push to full speed out of the bay door, straight into the firefight.

You flew out of the particle barrier, and immediately dodged a Galra fighter trying to ram your side. You avoided the castle's cannons and directed your attention back onto the swarm of Galran fighters. You wove through the swarm, shooting at any fighters in your way, so far, succeeding.

You activated he cloaking mechanism and directed your fighter through swarm, weaving through the fighters and shooting your blasters at them.

You were watching your left flank when a sudden ice blast to your right caught your attention. Lance froze a fighter that was about to ram right into you.

"Thanks, Lance," you said. "You got it," he replied. Lance turned and began fighting again. You took a moment too long to start moving, a Galran fighter seizing the moment to shoot your windshield. The blast cracked the surface, not shattering it, but the crack was spreading.

"(Y/N)!" You heard Keith's voice. The crack spread across the windshield, and it all seemed like it was in slow motion.

The surface shattered, and the force of empty space hit you hard. Your seat belt ripped off, launching you out into the warfare, blasters going off everywhere. You activated your helmet's full face shield, only to notice a large piece of debris shooting straight towards you. The red lion caught the metal in its jaws and flung it at a few fighters, taking them out. You jet-packed into the lion, passing out soon after.

-Time Skip-

"Shiro!" You heard Keith's voice ring out. "We've gotta catch up to him before he hits the surface!" Pidge's voice followed.

You slowly opened your eyes, gazing at the ceiling inside one of the lions. You blinked a few times before a rush of pain coursed through your head. You winced, putting a palm to your head. You slowly sat up, you were sitting behind Keith in the red lion. You stood up, staggering towards the seat, gripping the top of it. You stared out of the glass, gasping. The black lion was plummeting through the atmosphere of a planet.

The Paladins were pushing their lions to their limits trying to catch the black lion, but they weren't fast enough. The black lion crashed into the surface of the planet, dust kicking up all around it.

"Shiro! No!" Keith exclaimed, frustration laced in his voice. The lions landed, and you didn't hesitate to rush out of the red lion towards the black.

The lion lay there, it's eyes no longer glowing that brilliant shade of yellow. You ran into the lion, straight towards the pilot's seat. Shiro lay there, unconscious, a gash across his left arm. You put his right arm over your shoulders and pulled him out of the seat, you pulled him out of wreckage, and lay him down on the soil. You took his helmet off, and felt for his pulse, sighing in relief when you found it. The other Paladins rushed out to join you, slowing when they saw Shiro.

"We have to do something," You said.
