"Move him to the evaluation room"
Dr.Arkham commands as the officers count to three by the door.
"1...2....3!"
They barge into the room and Dr.Arkham leads me to another room across the hall before I could see any of the action. I stand outside the door as Joker is taken in through the patient entrance. I have to admit it was a good idea that they have a patient entrance. They blindfold the prisoner and walk them through so they are in the dark about where the hallways lead in case of an escape. I wait outside the door while he is taken in and the blindfold is taken off. I see Joker say something, but I am not sure what it was. Whatever it was it made the guards shake and leave rather quickly. After a few more seconds of observing him so there are no more surprises I decide to jump in.
"Dr.Arkham I am ready"
He hands me the panick button we are all provided with in case things go south and gives me a worried smile. He sits in a chair by the glass and turns on the monitors they use to observe the patients behaviour while being talked to. I huff out one breath letting years of phycologist knowledge flood back into my brain. I knew what I wanted to do from a young age and it gave me great insight on the world. That was until he was the topic of our studies in college. He made me confused, but also made me want to fix him. You could say I had a big fascination with him growing up. I type in the 5 digit code which spelt alert in numbers and a ding above the door tells me it's safe to open. I turn before closing the door to see more guards silently filing into the observing room. I hold my breath and shut the door sealing it until someone outside helps me or I press the panic button which opens the door. I walk in and notice he has his head down. He put on quiet a show just to see me and I want to know why. Giving a slight cough I walk in practically radiating confidence. I kept up this charade all the way to my seat and sat down shifting side to side to get comfortable. I thought I was on top of things until he spoke. The few words that fall from his ruby lips actually confuse me.
"Where do you get virgin wool?"
I decide to play his games because just like the riddler I must need to answer his jokes to get my question. It's the same strategy I used with him. Sadly my other patient Catwoman escaped.
"Where patient 0600"
He growls at his number, but continues. This could come in handy...
"AN UGLY SHEEP!"
He shrieks and burst out laughing. He looks at me as to see if I'm laughing and then frowns at the sight of me taking notes.
"Not the joking type eh? Oh well let's try a different approach"
Before I can say anything he slides his leg under to mine and grazes it. I don't want to say I liked it, but it gave me goose bumps. He seemed to notice because he was grinning like an idiot. Not his usual grin no this one seemed more....genuine. I smile and slide my leg out from under the table and cross my legs writing my observations down on the yellow parchment.
"Seeming we got off to such a great start I am sure you already know why I am here so let me introduce myself I'm-"
Before I could finish he laughs cutting me off.
"Your Harleen Quinnzel the golden girl! The good girl done good type. That's just a label. The only reason you are here is to be the cheerleader. You think people want you around for that pretty little head of yours no they want you around for that pretty little body under those clothes"
He burst out laughing as my confidence takes the biggest hit it ever has. Shake it off Harleen. I can't tell if he had seen the emotion on my face because if he had I was in big trouble.
"Well patient 0600-he growls-that is your opinion and if you ever believe you have permission to cut me off again well think again. I can have you put in isolation whenever I see fit. If this behaviour continues that's where your one way ticket is leading you to. So shape up or shut up"
I don't know what had snapped in me, but I sure let him have it. I search his face for anything, but it was as if his whole persona of the joker had disappeared for a split second and he was normal. That was until he burst out laughing. He was in his straight jacket so he had no way to stop from falling off the chair. I roll my eyes and go to help him up. He was in a straight jacket what would he do? As he settles down I help lift him off the floor and back onto the chair.
"So the cat can scratch eh?"
I look over to him to oddly enough I felt pride in him complementing me.
He just stares at me with an emotion I didn't think he was capable of...lust. I saw it then and there live and in person that the Joker was in fact fixable. A person crying out to be fixed because it had been locked away in a cage of beautiful madness for too long. I walk back over to my seat and grab my notepad.
"Goodbye patient 0600 until next time thank you for your time"
He growls at me, but before I walk out I hear one tiny thing that was capable of scaring even the biggest man.
"Goodbye my Harley Quinn"
