"Harleen you look amazing"
I giggle at Floyd's compliment and blush slightly.
"You don't look to shabby yourself Mr.Sexy"
I wink at him and I can see a small blush creep up onto his toffee skin. It's not like me to make those kind of remarks. I feel so free! Somehow my mind wanders onto the Joker. I quickly get him and all work out of my mind tonight was for normal fun. He turns off the car and gets out. He runs over to my side slamming his door seconds before. He opens my door and kindly escorts me out of the car. Oh quiet the gentleman indeed.
"Shall we mi-lady?"
I give him a small nod and reply
"Yes we shall"
And we walk to the doors of the fancy restaurant he had driven us to. It was called The Riddle and I can't help, but feel like I heard a name like that before. "Table for 2"
Floyd lightly tugs me along as we follow the pretty ginger waitress. Floyd lightly pulls out my chair so I can sit and goes over to his chair.
"What can I start you off with? Any drinks?"
Floyd takes a minute to think it over by scanning the menu and tells me to go ahead.
"A glass of Pinot Noir please"
I ask her sweetly trying to be nice to the waiter. You never know what waiters do to your food if you aren't polite. Back in Brooklyn I remember getting a hotdog from a small restaurant and seeing spit on it because I was hungry and probably wasn't that delightful to talk to. Such good memories I miss Brooklyn.
"-on the rocks please"
I see the lady walk away with our orders and we begin to talk. It wasn't about the weather or anything when I go on dates-which aren't that often-I want to know what I'm dealing with and who I am exactly going on a date with. I once dated a guy named Harvey and it turned out he had drugged me and tried to knock me up so I had to stay with him. His plan failed and he was put in prison. I didn't even like the guy it was just a blind date I was expecting to sit through and ponder what I did with my life afterwards over a tub of ice cream.
"Yeah I have a daughter. It's been a while since I have seen her last because of.. complications, but maybe if this date goes well you can meet her sometime"
Floyd smiled at the mere mention of his daughter and I can tell he really loved her. I do actually want to meet her one day I think it would be fun.
"Here we are-she sets the drinks on the table-are we ready to order?"
Floyd looks at me with a look asking if I was and I nod back at him.
"I will have the pork ribs please- and what about you Harleen?"
I look down at my menu to check my order and tell the waitress.
"Uh just one breast of the roasted duck please I don't need the full thing"
She nods then walks off. Floyd and I continue to talk about personal things each one bringing me closer to him somehow. I might actually like Floyd. It feels so weird to like someone again. If kinda felt nice, but I wasn't positive if I did or not and I don't want to make any hasty decisions. After dinner and learning Floyd has a passion for shooting guns, and he used to have a stuffed dog his parents had to hide from him when he was little we went home. Or so I thought.
"Umm Floyd my apartment was back there you missed the turn"
Floyd chuckled and held my hand.
"I have a special place I discovered and I want to share it with you"
He looks at me through his mirror and I nod slightly and smile. He wants to show me somewhere special to him.
We arrived at a pier and Floyd grabbed my hand, and led me somewhere. We climbed up an abandoned buildings decaying staircase for what felt like forever.
"Floyd where are we going?"
He didn't respond to me, but kept on walking. After 5 more flights I was getting tired. Floyd granted my wish when he picked me up bridal style after I said my feet hurt. We made it to the top of the building after another 10 flights of stairs give or take a few. He set me down on the top of the stairs and opened a door. He lightly pushed me out into the chilly night air and I shivered. He draped his coat on my shoulders and points my head towards something. I gasp when I see the beautiful sight of Gotham lit up an the cars driving along the road. It was incredible and took my breath away.
"Do you like it?"
I turn to him shocked he even asked me that.
"Like it...I FREAKIN LOVE IT FLOYD!! It's so pretty up here"
He laughs and I join in. Our laughs didn't sound right together for some reason. His laugh was deep and throaty while mine was light as a feather. That's the first thing I didn't think went well with me. I don't know why, but my mind flashes back to the Joker. His neon slicked back green hair, his blue eyes portraying a scene many would say is the definition of chaos. His head tattoo had read 'Damaged' and I think that's a nod at Batman and how he screwed up Joker. He did knock out some of his teeth during one of their scuffles together. I didn't realise I had been staring at the view until Floyd sighed and said we should probably get home. I agreed and we started to make our way down the stairs and begin the amazing task of driving home. This sure was a memory I want to hold onto forever.
