Excitement was filling my heart, as I was shifting in my bed. Something just couldn't let me sleep anymore.
It was 5 in the morning, and I just couldn't sleep. Maybe it was because of the wish I made last night, or maybe I was just sick. I had no idea which one was it. I was too afraid to test the first one, because if it didn't work, my whole dream about making wishes that actually came through would shatter. And I loved wishes... And flying... That was impossible. Not even a genie could've made me fly, right? Well, I don't know. But I surely didn't want to find out.
After half an hour, I admitted the fact that there's no way I was going back to sleep. So I got up, and went in to the middle of my room, ready to try something new. Flying.
The thing is that no one ever flew. So there's no instructions. Was I supposed to say a spell? To close my eyes and wish again? To jump out of the window and wish for the best?
Because I had no idea what spell I was supposed to use and I really didn't want to jump out of the window, I just closed my eyes, and my imagination started to run.
I was seeing myself on the top of a mountain. I was so high. In a place no human has ever been. A place of dreams. I was just standing there, on the top, waiting for something. Suddenly, a white dove came out of nowhere, doing majestic circles in the air. I watched it in awe, wishing to do that too. So, I jumped. But, instead of falling, I was floating in the air. The dove was flying next to me, while I tried to move. First, I raised my hands, and tried to move like you do when you swim. And I got higher. So I kept doing that. After a while, I stopped moving my hands, and instead just thought about flying. And, surprisingly, I didn't fall, but instead just flew faster and more graciously. I flyed next to the dove for awhile, going over tree tops and over mountains. Over fields filled with snow and small, cold houses. Drifting through clouds, swimming in the air, feeling every cell I had in my body ready to explode. And that's when I woke up from my day dream.
And I almost screamed when I saw what has happened. I was currently floating in my room, light as a feather. I tried to do exactly what I did in my dream. And, I succeded. I went in circles around my room, just swirling and acting like a ballerina. I couldn't believe it. I was actually flying. Like they did in my books. Like I did in my dreams.
After I just practiced this new "sport", I got into bed, not touching the ground. I was so happy and excited and terrified, all at the same time. I could fly. I. Could. Fly.
Soon after my realization, I fell asleep, but I still woke up earlier, so I could talk to Dylan about this first. So, I sent him a text:
"Come as soon as possible. Wish came true. Can't wait to show you. It's important. Hurry up! Oh, and knock before you enter.-Emb"
After that, I took a shower and changed into one of my favourite sweaters. I took a statue from the attic, and heard Dylan's voice from downstairs, saying:
"Thanks for letting me in, Anna! Ember just wanted to see me before school."
"Oh, are you going to finally tell her?" I heard my mother ask.
"You know I can't do that. But I think I will, pretty soon..."
He would tell me what? That's when I heard footsteps coming up the stairs, so I hurried to my room. I put the statue in my bag, and went into the middle of the room, just when I heard a knock on my room.
"Ember? Are you in there?" I heard Dylan's voice through the door.
"Yeah, wait a sec."
