The first years were now walking up the long staircase that Hagrid pointed them to, but they didn't mind since they were all admiring the architecture, the moving stairs, and the portraits. The women and men in the portraits seemed to be moving and speaking and Lea let her jaw drop for a while as she looked at each one. She only closed it when Seamus told her to close her mouth or she was going to attract flies, a wide smirk on his face that vanished when she elbowed him in the stomach but she kept her head held up high, still looking with wonder at the portraits.
At the top of the stairs, a rather severe-looking woman who was wearing square glasses exactly the shape of the markings the cat had had around its eyes. She was wearing a cloak, an emerald one and her black hair was drawn into a tight bun. She was rapping her fingers on the stone railing, she stopped away from the railing and stood in front of the children. She had on a strict face but Lea cold see the kindness in her eyes as she looked at them.
"Welcome to Hogwarts" She said as they all grew silent, not wanting to upset the woman, "Now, in a few moments, you will pass through these doors and join your classmates. But before you can take your seats you must be sorted into your houses" She clapped her hands together as Lea, Neville, Dean and Seamus all glanced at one another.
Star jumped off the girl's shoulder and started trotting her way towards the professor but Lea reached down just in time to take the kitten in her hands, one second later and the said kitten would have slipped through her fingers. Star struggled against her grasp and pawing towards the woman for who knows what reason but Lea kept a tight but gentle grip on her.
"They are Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin" A boy with clicked back blonde hair beside Lea smirked at hearing the house, nodding towards someone behind them. And all of the sudden, she had this feeling that the boy was...proud, but one glance in his eyes and she noticed a small bit of loneliness inside them.
But she shook the feeling away and turned towards the woman once more, not wanting to be in trouble the first night in Hogwarts.
"Now, while you are here, your house will be like your family. Your triumphs will earn you house points. Any rule breaking, and you will lose points. At the end of the year, the house with the most points is awarded the house cup-"
"Trevor!"
Neville jumps forward and takes his toad that was silently croaking in front of the crowd, most of the students laugh at his actions. Including the blonde but in a rude way, sort of taunting him. Lea stood straighter and narrowed her eyes at him, if he dared to bully or make fun of her new friend, he would have to face her wrath. Her hair also matched her fiery temper when somebody messed around with her friends and family.
"Sorry" The brunette said quietly before walking back to his place, his cheeks turning pink.
"The sorting ceremony will begin momentarily" She says before walking through two giant doors, their thud echoing in the hall before the eleven year olds started chatting with their new found friends.
"That's Professor McGonagall" Seamus tells them a second later, "She's the head of house of Gryffindor" He scrunched up his nose when he said that.
"Oh, she's not that bad" Dean said, defending the said woman while he ran his hands down his robes, trying to get rid of imaginary wrinkles.
"Yeah, you just don't have to get into trouble, which I'm guessing is going to be hard for you, Seamus" Lea teased as Seamus lightly shoved her, the other two laughing at them, "I'll be right back"
She walked over to Harry, who was trying to brush down his bangs to make them look not so untidy and she also noticed the same specks of dirt on Ron's nose, "Don't even try Harry, you're fighting a loosing battle there" She said as the boys looked up and saw her approaching.
