Chapter 21

Maya POV

The sounds of Kinleigh's cries woke me up at about 3AM. This was the second time she was up for a feeding. Lucas had pretty much just slept through it because he knew that I breastfed her so I would have to get up anyway. Must be nice for him to get some sleep. I didn't mind it though. I was going to lay her in bed with us but I decided tonight I'd take her into the nursery and feed her in the rocking chair. I had never been in here at night. It looked beautiful though as the moon light came through the window. I sat down in the rocking char and pulled my breast out of my shirt so that she could latch onto it. Which she did right away. I sat there and rocked her as I watched her feed. It was so cute hearing the little sucking noise she was making. I let her suck for a little while and the burped her. She wanted more so I put her back on. Once she was done she was still wide awake. I tucked myself back into my shirt looked down at her. 

I looked down at her and smiled "Hello my wide awake smol bean. Mommy should probably change you" I said and kissed her cheek. 

I got up off the rocking chair and walked over the changing table, I gently laid her down on top of it so that I could change her diaper.  After I was done I picked her back up and made my way over to the Bay Window that Lucas recently made in the window of her nursery. I insisted to him that she must have a Bay Window in there so made one for her. I cradled her in my arms as I sat down on it. I looked out at the beautiful starlit winter sky, the moon was beautiful tonight. I looked back down at Kingleigh kissed her on the cheek. 

"I know you too little to understand yet  but Mommy wants to tell you a story about this bay window I had Daddy make for you. So growing up your Aunt Riley and Mommy's special place was and still is the Bay Window in Aunt Riley's room. We don't use it much anymore now that we have gotten older but from time to time we do. Aunt Riley and I always vowed that whenever we had a baby of our own boy or girl that they would have a Bay Window seat in their bedroom. Aunt Riley and I have lots of great memories in her Bay Window. It's where we always talked about things between just her and I. A sacred little place that means so much to us even now that we are older. I know that you don't understand any of this yet but you will when you get older and Mommy tells you this story over again. and I can only hope that your Bay Window will be as special to you as Aunt Riley's was and still is to her and Mommy." I looked down at Kinleigh and she was now sleeping peacefully in my arms. I kissed her once more on the forehead and decided since she was asleep that we'd go back to with Lucas. Once in the room I gently laid Kinleigh in the bassinet and then got into bed with Lucas. I looked at the clock and saw it was nearing 4AM. Lucas turned around to face me when he heard me get in. 

"Where were you?" he said sleepily. 

"Your daughter woke up for a 3AM so I took her to the nursery and fed her there. She was wide awake until a few minutes ago." I yawned. 

"You should have woke me. I would have got up with her so you could sleep." he replied. 

I made him lay on his back then draped one leg over him, rolled myself onto him and laid on his chest. He put his arms around me and I nuzzled my face into his neck. "It's okay. She was up for a feeding and I liked holding her." 

"Okay but in the future if she has you up wake me and I'll join you." he said to me. 

I lifted my head up off his chest and leaned down to kiss him softly. "I will" I said as I laid my head back to down. 

I ended up falling asleep on Lucas. Exhaustion had got the best of me and I just passed out. The best thing about is he just let me sleep on him and he fell asleep too. At around 7AM Kinleigh woke up for another feeding. I was so tired but I managed to move off Lucas and bring the baby in bed with us. Before I fed her I decided to put a new diaper on her since had been a few hours.  She fussed the entire time and when she got done I picked her up and gave her a kiss. 

"It's alright, Kinleigh, Mommy's going to feed you." I said as I kissed her head. I laid her back down between me and Lucas then I laid down on my side. She latched on right away and Lucas smiled at me. 

"Looks like she's happy now that Mommy gave her the boob." he chuckled. 

"Of course she is." I smiled back at him "How come you didn't move me off you when I fell asleep?" 

"I wanted you to get your rest. You were out within seconds and I didn't want to wake you." he answered. 

"At least one of us got a full night in." I joked. 

Lucas chuckled "You can't even say that because you could have easily woke me." 

"You might as well get used to me ragging on you for getting sleep." I smiled at him. 

"When you get done feeding her I will I take for her you and that way you can rest." he replied. 

"She should be done shortly.." I answered. "Thank you Lucas. You're the best Daddy." I replied as I looked down at my baby girl. 

"Well you're the best Mommy and girlfriend. We want you to get some sleep. She hang out with Daddy." he said as he leaned in and gave me a small peck on the lips. 

After Kinliegh fed for a little bit I eventually burped her but she wasn't done yet so she fed awhile longer. Once done Lucas took her and they went out to the living leaving me to sleep for a few hours. I ended up sleeping for a couple of hours then woke up missing my baby girl. I went out to join her and Lucas and was so surprised to see that Lucas had done some cleaning. He was in the middle of loading the dish washer when I walked in. 

"Wow Huckleberry. Thank you so much." I said causing him to look up from what he was doing. 

"I didn't want you to have to worry about doing anything when you are dealing with all these sleepless nights." 

I walked over to him and hugged him. "Well you're the best boyfriend and Daddy ever. We love you." I said and I pulled him to me placing my lips on his. 

"Love you both too." he said as he pulled away. 

"Where is she?" I asked him.

"In the pack n play fast asleep." he smiled. 

I walked over to the pack n play and gently picked up my sleeping baby girl. I kissed her little cheek and walked over and saw down on the couch. I'm so thankful for Lucas. Not many Dads would think to do all of that. I appreciate him so much. Kineligh and I are so lucky to have him. The rest of the day was spent the three of us hanging out. I loved every minute of it.
