After a few days of house hunting and finding no prospects I was beginning to feel run down and bummed.
"What exactly are you looking for sweetie?"
"I dont know. Everything we looked at the last few days has been just too sterile. I want a Montana home. Like come home to the family  fireplace burning kind of house. Comfy and beautiful at the same time."

" You could've said something days ago. I know a guy who is currently moving in with his fiance. He's been trying to sell his cabin, but it's in a remote area. Like an hour away atleast. Let me call him"
After some calls and a couple hours later I found my home. I instantly fell in love with the house. The guy had already moved in with his fiance so it was vacant. I made a cash deal with him and I could move in when ready. I'd left all the furniture I had in Hawaii so I had alot of shopping to do. Me and my belongings were moved in 2 weeks.  One hour away in a town I loved but far enough away I wouldn't see or hear about Hudson and his fiance. Unless someone calls me of course which happens, my mother being the culprit. I still hadn't told Hudson about the baby. I could use not seeing him around as an excuse but the the day we moved he pulled over in the u haul. It was the first time I'd seen him since the storm and I was nervous.

"License and registration ma'am" he said calmly as he came up to the window. You could tell he hadn't paid attention to who he'd pulled over until mom, who was driving said
"Hey there Hudson how are you honey?"
"Oh hey Dell" and as he looked over at  the passenger side he nods "Ritchie. It's good to see your back. It seems your u haul has a tail light out. Make sure you notify the company when you take it back. Are you moving Dell?"

"No, my Ritchie is coming home to stay. She bought Ed Goodwin's place. It's further away than I'd like but it's better than being across the world. The place is quite beautiful. Mabey one day she'll fill it with a husband and kids. Speaking of, how's that fiance of yours?" I about choke on air. Literally.
"You ok Ritchie?" He asked
"Yes. I just swallowed the wrong way or something."
"So you staying for a while then?"

"Yeah, I guess until I figure out what I wanna do with the rest of my life"

"She quit that modeling thing. My Ritchie's settling down. Now years ago I'd of sworn you all would be married and giving me some grandbabies.  Funny how things work out. I guess it's for the best anyways. Your getting married and all, and well Ritchie's " She didn't get to finish before I cut her  off
"Mom, we really have to go"

Taking the hint " Yes we do. Did you need anything else Hudson?"

"No ma'am, I'll let you be on your way. " he then looks my way and proceeds " Welcome to the neighborhood. I bought the property next to Ed's place a couple years back.  The ground breaking starts this week actually. So I guess I'll be seeing you around neighbor." Well fuck.

As we pulled away I look at my mother who was smiling like the cat that ate the canary, and say " You remember that nursing home you volunteered in? The one that smelled of moth balls and urine?"
"Yes, why?"
"Might want to get reacquainted with it. That's where I'm putting you, you old bat"
