Through Strength In Self

I followed Jinxx out of the room. He pulled me out of the hall and into the nearest elevator. He hit the lobby down button. I looked at him, confused. "What do you need, Jinxx?" I asked, looking him straight in the eyes.

He stayed silent until the elevator doors opened with a ding. He pulled me out and into the nearest men's room. He was about to shove me into a stall when I looked at him and said, "Dude, if you put me in there and you get in after, isn't someone gonna think we're... doing strange things together?"

He back away and nodded. "You're right.."

Instead, he gazed in the mirror and adjusted his hair. I stood behind him, impatiently tapping my foot. "What do you WANT?!" I nearly yelled, trying to get his attention.

He didn't say anything. I punched his arm lightly. He threw his arms down, annoyed, and looked at me. "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" he screamed, an extremely pissed look on his face.

"That's what I wanna know!" I replied, rolling my eyes and checking my phone for any texts from Holly.

"Oh, right...Uhm, listen bro.. I think Holly's cheating on you." he said, trying to avoid looking me in the eyes.

My eyes watered almost immediately. No. No... This couldn't happen to me. I was her boyfriend. She liked me, right? She had to. She said yes to me, not even a few hours ago. She couldn't already be cheating on me. I looked down, trying to keep myself from crying.

Unfortunately, I fell to my knees. Jinxx kneeled down in front of me. "Don't cry, Ashley." he whispered, holding my hand awkwardly.

I cried hard. Jinxx grabbed my shoulder. "I'm not positive that she was, but... I think this is her." he said, pulling out his phone and searching through it.

He found what he was looking for and showed me a picture of a girl who looked a lot like Holly, kissing some guy. I looked and Jinxx and sighed. He helped me up and I cleaned my face. "It looks like her." I said.

Jinxx sighed. "Don't say anything until we know a little more."

I nodded.

In the elevator, Jinxx told me some jokes and stuff that he knew would make me smile. I laughed really hard. When I came back to the room Holly was in, the door was closed. I took a deep breath and put my hand on the door knob. When I opened the door, I was shocked.

Holly wasn't dressed. Not fully, at least. I closed the door quickly. I knew she'd seen me. That meant that there was no way for me to excuse myself. I'd just seen Holly wearing almost nothing. When I'd gathered my thoughts and caught my breath, I knocked. "Holly? Are you dressed?" I asked.

I heard a laugh and she opened the door. "Sorry about that. I should have locked the door!" she laughed, hugging me.

I stood there, wide eyed. When I set my eyes on her, I wanted to cry. She looked so beautiful, but I couldn't imagine her cheating on me. I couldn't imagine her doing me wrong. I sighed. The expression on Holly's face changed. "What's wrong, boo?" she asked.

I remembered what Jinxx said. "Nothing." I replied.

She looked me in the eyes. She knew I was lying, but she didn't say anything to me. Not one word. She just turned around and let me in the room. I sat down and took out my phone. I texted Jinxx and told him what happened. He didn't say much of anything. Holly was sitting on the opposite end of the couch, staring at the floor.

I slid over to her and tried to put my arm around her. She stood up and walked away. I sighed. There was no way to break the feeling in the room. I grabbed a black hoodie and pulled it on. It was just time to clear my mind. I walked out.

I heard Holly following me, softly calling my name. "Ashley! Ashley!" It rang repeatedly through my head.

But I didn't stop.

I kept walking, but I slowed down a little. I still heard Holly's sad voice, calling, "Ashley, please!"

Finally, I found her standing next to me outside. I faced her. She looked into my eyes, speechless. We stood in silence for a few minutes. I suddenly grabbed her arms and pulled me toward her, kissing her passionately. She was overcome by the kiss, not expecting it in the beginning, but letting herself accept it. She kissed me back with the same intensity.

We were standing outside on the sidewalk, just in front of the hotel we were going to be leaving tomorrow morning. The kiss intensified. Suddenly, we found ourselves standing wet in holy rain. I pulled away and looked up as cold droplets fell from the grey clouds above, drenching the two of us. I took my hoodie off and wrapped Holly in it, and walked her back inside.

I smiled at Holly. We might not havebeen strong with each other, but we were strong in ourselves. That would fix it. This was the only way. "I love you."
